@Bill_Brown I’m sitting here with colored pencils drawing in notes, scales and patterns in different colors for different chords…. and I think I got it.

I’m using The Key of C. My 1 4 5 are C F G notes. using the A shaped chord barre for the 1 chord, and the 4th chord (F root) and 5th chord (G root) will be E shaped chord.

The A shape and E shape share the same pattern. the C & F root notes are on the 8th fret. Just the E pattern starts on the Low E string and the A pattern starts on the A string. Also on the 8 fret it contains all my notes needed for the Key of C (C F G). Same with the 10 th fret (where my root for G is), my C F and G notes are there. I think this is getting a little easier for me.

This is something I will have to keep doing to really get it to stick. It really confusing but not as confusing as it was just last week. I can see something now. Maybe I don’t have it all memorized but I can see a pattern in how it works.
