  • 2 years since getting back into playing the guitar

This is my guitar story. My first guitar was a blonde jumbo Epiphone. I’ll guess this was around 1972. I bought it off a friend for $50. I also had a Alvarez 12 string. Then one day, I sold them both and quit the guitar for some 25 years.

Fast forward and on October 2nd 2020 I started my journey back to playing the guitar. I started out with a Martin D10 road series then traded up to a Martin D28 about 6 months later. This is also around the time I started TAC. Gosh, it was amazing how much I had forgot. Having a routine really did help me out. I want to add that in my 2 years journey I have added a First Act (kids guitar, I was using as a travel guitar), Washburn Rover travel guitar, 1/2 size Cordoba, Taylor GS Mini, Taylor 812 (I used my Martin D28 for a trade in on the 812), My last purchase was my 562-12 string. Just when I think that’s it, no more guitars! someone puts up a post of a guitar that looks interesting. I was just looking at @GerryB56 and @John_Hall s resonators and hmmmmmm………… maybe. When does it STOP!

Just wanted to share my story with you and add a picture of my guitar family.

Thanks @Bill_Brown. I really like what I have in the guitar family. Right now the Cordoba will one day be traded off for a Resonator if I decide to get one. I don’t play the Cordoba that much anymore and it’s just taking up space. Everything else is a keeper. I watch for used guitars at a store near me. If I have a trade, I can get a decent trade in value for my guitar and 15% to 20% off a new guitar.

@Kitman : Love my guitars but I might have room for one more. If I another guitar, someone will have to go. The Washburn Rover has a great case. Reinforced with Styrofoam so that is my official travel guitar, it’s a keeper. So more than likely the Cordoba will be traded in. I got a great deal on it when I bought it but now it’s been replaced by better guitars that are played more often. Thanks for taking a look at them all and reading my story 🙂

Love it! Just when I start feeling a little guilty about wanting more guitars, it’s great to drool over some fellow TACers’ guitarsenals😆 Now that I have that resonator, I wonder why every guitarist doesn’t want one! And it would look so pretty in among those other gorgeous acoustics😁

@GerryB56 : It’s a different sound that comes from a resonator. If I can get some blues or bluegrass songs down I might start looking for one.

Thanks @ted_h . Going into my 3rd year, my goal is to get a handle on bluegrass and flatpicking.
