  • 3rd TACiversary

Not sure what happened, but my first post disappeared.

Nearly forgot about my 3 year TACiversary. Reflecting back, I’ve come a far way from not knowing anything about guitars and never having played before. Playing the guitar has not come easily to me, and I’m still not that great, but I’m getting better, and I’m having fun.

The first 2 years had their ups and downs. I felt I wasn’t improving, but I’m glad I kept at it. I began virtual guitar lessons about a year and a half ago, and that’s been great alongside TAC, and I participated in several virtual open mics. I got tendonitis and tennis elbow that sidelined me for nearly 6 months, but I signed into TAC daily, and I learned a few songs using alternative tunings that weren’t as harsh on my arm.

Seemingly overnight, things just clicked and fell into place. I’ve been able to strum several patterns, my chord transitions are so much faster and smoother, and singing while playing fell into place. I have a binder full of songs I can play, and another with songs I want to learn. I continue to challenge myself. I recently began voice lessons, and ai found that I can hit notes in different keys. My vocal chords have been atrophied from lack of talking over the past several years. I’m working on building them back up.

Moving forward, I want to continue improving in my playing abilities and have my vocals improve considerably; I’d like to work more on fingerstyle playing over the next year. I just feel like time passes so quickly, and it’s difficult to find the time needed to learn and practice. BUT, I’ve been through so much in the past few years, and I was ALWAYS able to find at least 10 minutes per day to touch my guitar and practice.

I look forward to the next year and to see what evolves.

Thank you Terry – That means so much to me. You’re someone I look up to, and you’re a great role model and very talented. I’m hoping be a fraction as talented as you in the future. Your observations are very kind and appreciated. I am having fun, and that helps keep it fresh and moving forward.
