  • another pick question

Posted by johnny67 on March 1, 2022 at 10:48 am

I am looking for a thumb pick that is shorter than most thumb picks, When I do finger picking I usually use my thumb alone. When I use a thumb pick I tend to dig to deep on the string, (even with a regular pick I tend to have just a small bit exposed for picking) Has anyone had the same issue and or found a thumb pick with a short tip

I might try modifying one to see how it works.

Hey @johnny67 Many of us are heavy handed on the strumming/picking hand, so I can totally relate. I’ve heard others say they’ve filed down the tips on the plastic thumb picks, so that might be an option.

@johnny67 Interesting concept by Black Mountain picks. They are very comfortable due to the spring loaded top and come in two thicknesses. The one I have is 1 1/8″ long.

I do use the black mountain pick which I really like but it sticks out around 7/16 past the edge of my thumb, gonna do a modify today and see how that goes. thanks for the suggestion

Let us know how it goes, @johnny67 , I know there are shorter thumb picks you can buy, but filing down is what I did because I already had thumb picks that I bought. But in the end, I used them at their original length. It was just a matter of getting used to the thumb pick.

        MG 😀
