Summer gets really busy around here. Gardening, riding my horse, camping, preserving stuff from the garden etc. Often, the best time to play has been while we are driving somewhere. While my lone guitar is a GSMini, it is still big to play in a Corolla, and then I need to sit in the back seat.

Enter my more portable instrument. I got a tenor ukelele for my birthday, early in August. I found that many guitar skills transferred, and I have kept up the playing habit for the most part this summer! This is more than a small win! Small enough to easily play in the car (from the front passenger seat) and easy to take camping.

Now I am trying to get myself back into TAC (and found new content from the beginning of this month, this evening! 😃) and back to my beloved GSMini.

Add to the win that I am also inspired to work on getting some piano skills back. Music is looking pretty good this fall. We just celebrated Thanksgiving here in Canada, and I am thankful to God for creating music, for the opportunity to own musical instruments, and for TAC to keep me going on my playing journey.

Nice wins on all fronts @JanineK . Time for a van so you CAN play while you drive. I have thought about getting one for that reason. : )

I’m not so sure a van will help with the piano though. 😜

Ha, ha! Of you course you don’t literally mean play AND drive! I think there are laws against that sort of thing.

The occasional time we drive our truck, I could play in the front passenger seat, but a ukulele is still much easier to manoeuvre in the vehicle.

The ability keep on making music 🎵 is key! I even have a few Irish Penny whistles, but other people didn’t like to hear me learning to play them. 😂

Hey thanks for sharing your win and some inspiration with us @JanineK . Several companies make a tenor sized ukulele that’s actually called a “guitarlele” because it has 6 strings and is tuned like a guitar with a capo on the 5th fret. A, D, G, C, E, A. That way you can use guitar chords. I know 2 people who have the Gretsch guitarlele and have been thinking seriously about getting one. I finally decided not to get it, but you have inspired me to change my mind. Thanks again for posting and I’m glad for your small win. That’s excellent.
