For the last week or so my guitar playing has been subpar, leading to frustration and well, just not that much fun. I keep all my TAC courses and daily challenges in a binder separated by subject; chord progression, speed challenges, etc. so yesterday I decided to pull out the binder. I opened it up to the speed challenge section and just started going through them one by one. While playing through them the joy returned! I guess I had just lost focus on what I was working towards. Playing those short little exercises put me back in the groove. I worked on those for about an hour then had a half hour of my best improvisation in awhile. IT WAS FUN!

Glad you found a little light that opened the door back up @Zoso , and we all go through periods like that. Keep reminding yourself when you’re in a fog and the joy is missing that this too shall pass, and things will get better. Sometimes it requires that we break out of our daily routine and do something different (just as you did with the speed challenges). It might mean finding a new song to learn from the big wide web or a book. It might mean doing some theory, or researching guitars or luthiers, or artists and their influences. It’s okay to take a break from routine to kick start our joy again.

Sounds like your joy returned via going through the equivalent of what we used to have as the “Libraries.” I really lament the loss of them.

Glad you are back in the saddle again and having fun. Good idea at going back through the previous exercises. I’ll have to try it. Keep pressing ahead!
