Can’t publish post?
Posted by BarbaraM on June 6, 2025 at 10:55 amLet’s see if this works…
I couldn’t publish a response in “Headin’ Down South”, wonder if there’s a hiccup going on?

I’ve had the same problem every time I’ve tried to post or respond to a post on the daily challenges. And like you, I’ve managed to reply to posts HERE, and am equally baffled. I haven’t spent time on the forums much the past MANY months, and it’s frustrating to not be able to communicate with fellow students re: the lessons we’re working on. Have you come across any “work-arounds” or answers re: why? Thanks!
-
Well, maybe it WAS a “glitch” or the fact I used a different computer, but just now, I was able to post below today’s lesson. I hope you too find/have found success re: posting.

That type of issue will typically occur when you need to clear your cache/history.
-
@Loraine, clearing cache does not appear to apply. I have tried using different browsers and on multiple devices and the behavior follows from browser to browser and onto my android phone and tablets. I haven’t pulled out the old linux laptop since moving here but I’m almost certain I would see the same there.

Hi Loraine and Heidi, I did find a “workaround”; I used Microsoft Edge instead of Firefox to access the site. When I contacted support earlier, they told me to use Chrome, but I refuse to use that. Now I have a brandy-new laptop, and I STILL have to use Edge to log into the site if I want to make comments or mark complete.
-
Gah! I just posted a reply on today’s challenge, then wanted to post another and it wouldn’t go! Got to be a lot more than which browser one uses, or fullness of the cache. This computer is 3 days old!
-
(Major confusion face) So I just tried the new post on Firefox and it worked just fine! Go figure.

I think its an issue on the site with human verification and posting. I’m experiencing the same issues in Safari where I can post once, then need to log out and re-login (with human verification) to post again. This is why switching browsers works, as you are logging in again, though you can do like me and log out / log back in on the same browser. This is very frustrating and actually prevents me from participating in the comments for the lessons. Hopefully they are aware of the issue and will post a fix (does anyone monitor threads like these? I’m assuming no)
-
OK, folks, I think I may have hit on it. If you have a pop up blocker or some such, you need to disable it for the TAC site only. I have a thing called Badger and it was showing me a notification so I looked and that’s what it was doing. Knock wood, but I have not had an issue since.
-
-
I occasionally experience this also, I go to post and it doesn’t get accepted. If I add a smiley to my message it will not post, that has been since day 1. I like using emoticons but TAC won’t allow me to.
Sometimes you have log out and back in again and posting starts to work. It’s not a perfect site, but it’s great in so many ways!

This continues to dog me but actually not so much here in the forum, more in the comments area under each challenge. There I’ve been running into issues daily. The first post of the day is fine but if want to not just leave a single comment, but perhaps say hello to somebody or just post another comment in the same area, then tonypolecastro.com invariably wants to say something.
He never actually says what he wants to say, but the message I’m feeling is: “Foghett-abahd-it!”

Yes! My earlier “solution” was not a true one. But, if I want to post more than one reply I have to copy it, then refresh the page, then paste it into where I want it to go, then publish the comment. So far, it seems to be working.
-
@BarbaraM refreshing the page doesn’t do it for me. But I’ve found if I refresh the page and then alter the post that I copied it sometimes will go through. Going to test this and see if that’s a solution.
Weird behavior, it really shouldn’t be this hard to interact with people in the community. Support (Victoria & Co.) have not been much help. I’ve raved about them in the past but with this issue they’ve downplayed it as being of no consequence. Maybe I’m alone but this affects my experience in a big way. Tony encourages us to greet others in the comments and this issue stops me dead in my tracks. I can’t be the only one experiencing this. Surely others will comment more than once in the Challenges.
Just reported essentially the same feedback to Victoria. See if maybe their cages can be rattled.
-
No luck! No cages got rattled. There aren’t enough people reporting problems. Seems odd since I am having the issue constantly. Victoria said they will only engage the IT Team if it’s a large enough issue, it has affect many users. I get it, but she also stated their IT Team “monitors the site for technical issues, such as the site going down, Members not being able to log in, etc. They do not post comments.”
So they “monitor” the site but they don’t test it for functionality. They make sure it is up and that people can log in. They don’t test to make sure the site is doing what it’s supposed to do. They wait for complaints, enough complaints to where it’s a mob. Then they’ll act when the mob is angry. I thought I was being helpful trying to troubleshoot an issue and help them prevent widespread complaints.
But I have confirmed that I can post as long as I copy my message that failed. Refresh the page and then change the failed message a bit. If I just paste the failed message it won’t work, have to alter it, then it goes.
-
Pete, I just sent a post to the support folks, outlining our frustration and disappointment with this issue. I hope having more than one member bring it up (in case others haven’t) will give it more weight. We shall see.
-
Thanks for letting me know, @BarbaraM ! It’s gonna take a big number of complaints, apparently. I imagine they have a per incident contract with their IT company. That can cost a lot of money to engage Support so it has to be worth it.
I gather from my time perusing over this site that lots of people post in the Challenges but rarely or never in the forums. That’s why I have been writing about the issue there. I think people might not be aware this is happening because probably a large percentage of people don’t post more than once a day. Then I suspect others don’t notice the message never posted
I have a functional workaround, probably adds 10-20 seconds to every comment after the first of the day. It’s not ideal, I won’t comment as much as I would with no barriers. I would like to see it corrected but I suspect that it won’t until the site gets the next major overhaul.

I feel vindicated now that I know others are having the same difficulty posting a comment after a challenge. Since I am technology challenged, I’m going to stick with playing the guitar and leave you knowledgeable folks, and the TAC support team, to resolve these issues. I’ll try commenting again in a month or so but in the mean time, I will follow petelanger’s advice and lodge a complaint with the “mamgement” – if someone would please tell me how to do that. Thanks in advance.
-
@Berndog you should have no trouble posting once under the challenge each day. It’s the second post that will fail on you.
To lodge a complaint just email support@tonypolecastro.com
