Capo suggestions
Posted by Screaming_fingers_jackson on February 27, 2023 at 5:05 pmCould anyone recommend a good capo? I’ve tried many and all of the ones I have seem to have too much tension. They press really hard causing the notes to be sharp and sound dull. Are there any low or adjustable tension capos out there?

@Screaming_fingers_jackson I just love my D’addario capo. It’s got the low profile playability of a G7, along with the easy on/off of a Kyser, and best of all, it’s got a tension adjustment knob built in. It’s definately my fav capo!!

I have both of these and can say they both work great. The g7 is great because it is more adaptable if you have a guitar where only one string buzzes after being capo’d

Hello @Screaming_fingers_jackson ;
You need to look at the Shubb. It’s adjustable, inexpensive, easy on, and pretty much the standard. Can’t be beaten, though everyone keeps trying to outdo them. And that makes the other capos more expensive.
But I have found any capo works. Just retune after putting on the capo. And make sure you give each string an upward tug to make sure the string is pinched down evenly. Many times, that alone makes my string go from sharp to the correct note. Also, the position within the fret space is important. But you’ll only know what works if you use your tuner with the capo on. Don’t expect the strings to be tuned correctly after you have put on a capo. That’s too great an expectation.

If I barre a chord I expect it to be in tune, so why shouldn’t I expect the same from a capo?

‘Cus ones a strip of inanimate plastic and the other is a finger with over 3,000 touch receptors in it…
But there is hope…! I have a Capo addiction…! I’ve got loads… From cheap to silly money… As 95% of everything I play I’ll be using one… So I’ll just mention a couple I like…
Thalia – They look so good, and the plastic insert is interchangeable to match the radius of your Guitar fretboard for a better fit…! Not cheap and they’re Big…!
G7th Performance 3 – My go to… Not to pricey… And easy to get used to how much pressure you need to close it down and where to place it for best results… Great No nonsense Capo.
My2cents worth… 😀
