  • chords good, now for the improv

Small win is that I am realizing that it’s not hard for me to learn the chord progressions for the week, I can get them up to 2x speed (well, not some of the bar chords) but most other chords. Good. Now time to get the scales and improv up there too!

Congrats on your commitment to the chord progressions. Improv and scales are a tasking of their own. What I’ve found helpful was simply playing around with the major or minor pentatonic scale in a particular key – I find a key on the low E, and then I look up backing tracks on YouTube with the key and whether major or minor. if major, your pinky will be positioned on the key note and if minor, your index would be positioned on the key note to begin the scales. Use a combination of scale notes while playing against the backing track. You can’t go wrong, so just play away and have fun.

Way cool. Thank you for the tips and tricks. I’m headed to utube to look for backing tracks.
