Well time does go rather quickly. I was pretty consistent for the first 1.5 years playing at least 5 X per week. I was retired, but went back to work last fall and my guitar playing really dropped off. One would think that when you have created a habit of playing almost every day that you would just keep it up really without thinking about it. For me, that is not so. Now I sometimes go for a week without playing and my skill development has suffered. I just need to find that time to pick up my routing again.

Congratulations on your 2 year TACiversary @Barry2021 . I completely understand how it is possible to all of a sudden find life back in the new norm post Covid makes it difficult to maintain the momentum. I’ve experienced the same thing (and I’m still working from home – go figure), and the nucer weather tempts us elsewhere.

I have to remind myself to step back to basics and commit to just 10 minutes per day at a minimum. I keep a guitar next to my desk and often find myself reaching for it for a spurt of playing for short breaks. That helps me stay connected.

Thanks for replying Loraine. I can see that if I was working from home, it might be easier to pick up the guitar and play a little. We can all find excuses as to why we are not doing something and I, for one, have to just remind myself that I really do love playing and even on those days I do not find the time to play, I am almost constantly thinking about playing. I is nice to find our how others tackle their difficulties. Anyway, ‘Stay calm and play guitar’.

Happy 2nd TACiversary @Barry2021 One thing you might try is to take your guitar to work and play during your lunch break. I bet you can find 10 min. there. Just a thought. 😊🧙‍♂️😎

Thanks for that suggestion. That might work now that it’s summer. Then I can play outside and no one can hear me, I think.

Remember @Barry2021 if you do take your guitar to work. Don’t leave it in the car! Take it inside. The weather can really mess it up if you don’t. 😊🧙‍♂️😎

Congratulations on TAC II. In the short run we can get stuck but in the long run I’ve noticed that we do what we want to so you will eventually figure it out.
