D tuning and using Flat pick
Small Win! Today I tuned my guitar down to “D tuning” to play the song “Simple Twist of Fate” by Bob Dylan! Not only was I geeked about being able to tune the strings down, but to somewhat master the “base string, up, down,up” strum. THEN to top it off I used a flat pick! I have always used my thumb or thumb pick whenever I practice because the flat pick just felt so cumbersome. I am not ready to post a video, right now at the stage of just playing for the cats.

What an awesome win Cadgirl. That dang pick will be difficult to master, but it opens so many doors when it comes to picking and strumming. I love the sound of Drop-D too. Keep up the great work!

Thanks, I really was super excited about it. I never would have tried the “drop D” if Tony didn’t have so many exercises with it. And concerning the pick, Now… I can be like the other guitar geeks and have a pick in my pocket 🙂

I’m with you on that. I thought it was a big win too. I have fought with a flat pick for a while. I’m not that good with it yet, but i’ll practice.

I sure will. I just got a 1/4 size for when I travel and a 1/2 size to stay in the living room. practice, practice, practice.

I was “stupidly” trying to learn songs that were way beyond my skill level since buying my guitar last year. I just recently dropped down to easier songs. I’m having a lot more fun. and….. isn’t that what it’s all about.
