One of my favorite nostalgic songs. For years I thought it was for an old girlfriend and always thought of her when I heard it. It was only recently that I learned it was written for David Gates father.thanks for your rendition of it, Kevin

@Mrfredsporty thanks I also thought it was about a girl they can make a guy feel that way and more I had no idea it was about his father. Guess music takes to different places glad it does thanks for listening in and commenting

I’m going to continue to use it with my nostalgic memories of my girlfriend from many years ago. I’m also going to use it in remembering my wonderful Mom since I already use Don McLean “Vincent” for my father.as get older (80 next month. Yikes!) I find that the songs I’m trying to play remind me of my past life. Good or bad I cherish them more and more.

Me too @Mrfredsporty you are very wise to challenge yourself by playing singing using that mind my music lets me vent lets me drift in memories lets me work my mind and just gives a lot of pleasure who wouldnt want that

just about an hour ago I was on youtube and saw a live performance of everything I own. David Gates further explained the song and why we interpret it differently . He said that as he was writing it he intended for other people to associate the song with a loved one or anyone we had feelings about even though for him it was for his father. He did a good job of that!

A very good job of making us think about loved ones no doubt about it

This song really shows how you use the guitar to frame the song. You’ve really softened your sound, in a way that so works for you. Great job @KevinZ
