  • Fam Jam with a surprise visitor.

Found out why my dad wanted to do the jam today.
My younger brother was in from Virginia with his family whom I haven’t seen in 10 years.

My brother has always been a good musician and can pick just about anything up and make music. He started on a French horn and has landed on the electric base… He is the worship leader in his church off yonder on the right coast.

We talked guitars, and music in general, what his musical goals are, and what mine are. I gave him advice on fingerstyle guitar, and he gave me advice on general musicianship, and what to learn to get me where I am going… And behold, all those tools are here! Also advised to only learn the theory that is useful to what I am doing… wonder where I have heard that before? He is also going to teach Lyle bass via zoom!

We also played for HOURS! I kind of feel bad that I didn’t give Uke lessons, or that by the end my Dad was just kicking back listening, we wore him out. It was so good to catch up with my brother, and to once again share music with him like we did as teenagers. Now my hands are sore and I’m OK with that.

Great small win @Alfred – family is one of the greatest things we have in life. To have music and family together is a BIG win – win. Remember that moments like those “are the good old days”! 🤩

Thanks, I’m still spun up about it! I really need to not have another 10 years go by. Could hardly recognize the kiddos, who are now nearly adults.

So much fun playing with my brother, good memories of making up silly songs when we were still kids. Musicking with him is somehow more gratifying now though.
