  • Finished FBW2. YEA!!!

Posted by Cadgirl on December 24, 2022 at 7:45 am

Finally finished Fretboard Wizard (2nd revision). WOW, I really learned a lot with this revision. I thought the best improvement over the 1st revision was the section on CAGED. It is explained a lot better, even though I stilled struggled, with help from TAC I muddled though. So any of you that think, oh I’ll never get this. You can, take your time and apply yourself and always know you can ask for help.

    C-G—

This is great stuff! Thank you for your post—- but maybe more-so…. thank you for your other thread/posts as you went thru the FBW course!

I, for one, “followed” along, reading the other thread(s), as you went thru. (I was going thru it myself, almost paralleling your progress- and had all the same questions at almost all the same times).

It really helped- it was like going thru it in “real-time”. I was seeing all the questions, responses, and discoveries at the same time I was seeing the course materials and challenges. Great stuff.

    Again……. Congratulations!

    yer old friend…..

Thanks, @the-old-coach . I am so glad to hear you followed along with me. I was really satisfied at the end when everything just fell together. Then I went onto the Soloing section of Fretboard Wizard, which I want to redo again. I might just redo the whole FBW again. As i sat on the couch and fiddled around with the guitar last night. It was easier to put a little break in between chord changes. They weren’t anything special but i was able to transition from one chord to another without too many hic ups. It’s awesome! Thanks again.

Thanks @Kitman , I printed up the pdf guide from FBW. That did help a lot. I think my favorite page was page 4. It showed the weeks we would be working with and what was contained in those weeks. First week was Musical Alphabet and they listed what was done on day 1, day 2, day 3, etc. That way I could go back and find that video and watch it again. I think what is really going to help me now is the daily challenges and going through everything again and again. Thanks again.

Congrats to you for working through Tony’s wonderful program! I’m almost there, got to the final chapter on soloing and then got distracted to other things, guitar-wise. I definitely intend to go through a second time now that I’ve learned so much from FBW and other sources and things make so much more sense to me.

@GerryB56 , I think the soloing took some concentration. I had to do that section a few times also. Good luck.

      Gerry–

I agree with C-G. The “soloing” section of FBW really threw me for a loop, too. As I have said– I just had a HARD time “getting it”.

Not ashamed to say that I STILL don’t have a clear handle on it- (and that’s almost an understatement).

But I’m OK with that….. Over time, with more learning and practicing what I learn……. It will come to me.

Love reading your always-encouraging posts- they help us all!

So proud of you @Cadgirl for having completed FBW 2. Woohoo, congratulations! I seem to be so short of time and can’t seem to focus on going through it. I started it when it first came out but didn’t get very far. I really should make the time. I’ve been having too much fun learning new songs and doing the daily lessons and my guitar homework that I’m too tired to pursue FBW. Excuses, excuses. Maybe your completing it will motivate me.

@Loraine , Thanks for your encouragement. I have to start looking at some songs that I can add into my song book. I pushed that all to the side when I started the FBW. I am glad I did the FBW and I do plan on going over it again. The CAGED was a toughie but I know if I don’t apply it, i’ll forget it. But, this week it seems like i’m having an easier time adding on a little more to the daily challenges. Right now, i’m trying to pick out the notes to Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash. do do do dodo do do dooooo….
