Friend of the Devil
Posted by Althea on June 2, 2025 at 3:03 amHey everyone, today I share my first song with you. I love the Grateful Dead and practiced this a lot. I’m happy that I finally even got the lick down. <div>

That was great. You kept moving all the way through and didn’t break time when you did the lead lick in the middle. You’re on the good road! You’ll get better the more you play it, but you know that. You’ve reached a milestone in your guitar journey, thanks for sharing that here with us! ♡♡ Anxious to hear more from ya!

Thank you Rick for your kind words, I’m glad you enjoyed it. It truely is a milestone for me to play through it without too much messing up.

This was great! I’m a huge dead fan as well (just say Dead & Co at the sphere with my sister a few weeks ago). I’m also learning Althea right now – great name!!
Rock on Althea – great playing and singing. Awesome style. 🙂

Thank you very much! Great to meet another dead head I saw dark star orchestra in Berlin in 22, fantastic.
Now I’m curious to hear your version of Althea. I find the riff very callenging so I just play the chords.

Wow! Phenomenal job! I really enjoyed listening to your playing. You have a nice voice too! Rock on sis!
May I ask what kind of guitar you are playing? I love the tone of it!

Thank you very much for your kind comment @Tricia_Lynn 🙂
My guitar is made by german guitar manufacturer Alfred Teller, it’s from the 60s and I have it since I was 16. (but it spent many years in the closet). Three years ago I started playing again. I still love this guitar.

I could tell..u love the song…really, loved it…it came thru ….don’t let mistakes or anything stop u…u have it…just the same as the dead had it…but u took it further and made it yours…relax, u’re a star …

Thank you very much for your cool comment @Jedjetson8 to be compared with the Dead is quite an honor 😉
I always loved singing FOTD and now being able to play along is just awsome.
And funny enough, it was Tony’s demo lesson for TAC, that’s when I knew I’m in the right spot here.

Very nice playing and that while singing! Wow, Sammy Hagar doesn’t even do that because it’s hard!
I see you live in Germany, but from hearing you sing it would seem you are not a German native.
