  • Guitar playing goals

I began a daily devotional reading session at my Mother in laws retirement home last week, and in addition to reading to the residents I sing and play two songs each week. I have done that twice so far and I hope to continue with that. Three of my long term goals for learning the guitar have been to play with friends and at retirement home and at Church.

I think that is such a great contribution @Dirk_R , and not only is it good for the residents, but it is also good for your soul and playing.

That is a wonderful thing to do – for the residents, the staff…and yourself. I’m sure they enjoy it as much as you do.

Smart goal and rewarding follow through. I have a friend that routinely plays at a memory care unit @Dirk_R and he relates interesting tales of joy concerning those who don’t know who or where they are but sing along enthusiastically when they hear something familiar.

Wow, what a gift @Dirk_R . Yes, this is a win, win, win. But also, this gives your guitar playing a true purpose. This is a higher purpose, or “calling” if you will, than those who make money recording albums and playing concerts. I hope this continues for you for a long time.
