How I Tac – Alfred (Done Proper this time… I hope)
My Routine will be
1.) How many days per week do you play?
I practice 5 days a week, and play every day
2.) What time of day do you play?
* Daily Challenge in the morning after work in the morning around 5:45 AM – 10 minutes
* When I wake after a cup of coffee – Fretting hand toolbox about 12:30 PM – 10 minutes
*Practice FBW skills etc. for 10 minutes after supper, before I brew my coffee for work about 5:30 PM
* Monday afternoons (I am off Monday nights) study FBW material 30 mins
[PLAY TIME AND ENRICHMENT… THE FUN]
* Saturday (or whenever I can squeeze in time) Just play and enjoy the instrument
* Sunday – Uke Day!! (oh and maybe learn harmonica or dulcimer)
3.) Where do you play?
This will be done at my tiny Desk in my room.
4.) How has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you? (if possible name 3 ways).
* I learned to use the pick astonishingly (to me) quickly by doing it every day.
* I am slowly becoming able to control performance anxiety. I can pull myself back when I begin to derail… still mistakes though. Practice, self recording, and the VOM nights help with this.
* I have learned new strumming and picking techniques, and the number and complexity of the songs I am able to play grows nearly weekly
5.) Bonus Question: What is one non-guitar item that is a must have in your guitar routine?
* My Printer. It is just so much easier for me to have a hard copy of the music I am working on, and to be able to unplug from electronic distractions so that I can focus my efforts. This is how I usually to the daily challenge. I watch the videos, then print out the tab and work from paper
We live in a small apartment, so I have assembled my practice area with the minimal furnishings needed. I have a laptop, webcam, mic and practice amp (required when you keep my hours so you can play into headphones) on a folding desk. My guitars are moved into the photo, but they live around my room giving me choices and incentive to play at any time.
