How I TAC – MommaTac
Yes, I have already posted something but now I need to follow the rules because hello, there are prizes involved and I like prizes.
1) How many days per week do you play?
Well, my goal is 7 but honestly, I usually get in 5. I am retired but somehow I feel like I am busier now than I was when I was working. There are no routines so each day can be different. I do try to never let more than 2 days in a row go by without picking up the guitar.
2) What time of day do you play?
I tend to be an afternoon player – either early afternoon after my workout or late afternoon before I make dinner.
3) Where do you play?
I am the proud owner of a diva den. I have a really nice set up that includes my guitars hanging on the wall, a desk and even a (semi-comfortable) couch that converts to a bed for guests so we can still use the room as a guest room.
4) What was guitar life like before having a guitar routine & and how has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you?
I never really knew what to play each day and on those days when I only had a few minutes, I spent most of it trying to decide what to do so nothing really got done. I love knowing that at the very least I have a daily lesson already set for me to work on.
I use a journal to record what I did each day. This has really helped me track my progress as I can go back and see what I was struggling with that I am doing better now.
Having a routine also helps to minimize distractions. When I go into my diva den I know why I am there. I have a purpose and closing that door means it is “me time”.
5) Bonus Question: What is one non-guitar item that is a must have in your guitar routine?
Water. I try to get in a lot of water during the day and so when I sit down to play, I immediately start with a big chug of water.
