How long?
Posted by Mike H on January 27, 2024 at 5:32 amHi everyone,
Before the 30 day challenge and first 5 day challenge I was a complete beginner. I am really loving it but my head is so full!!! How proficient should I be before moving on to the next stage?

Where you are is where you are. As Tony says, “Comparative thinking is where fun goes to die.” Just keep at it and trust the process. It works. You will feel it in spurts but one day you look back and “Voila, your actually having fun and your getting decent.” I will celebrate my 5th Taciversary in March and am so appreciative I’ve been doing it.

The goal is progress over perfection.
Spend a minimum of 10 mins a day on each lesson and then move on. You will struggle with most of the lessons, but just do the best you can, if something is too hard, don’t worry just give it a try and then skip it. Most of the techniques come around again and again, and you will get a little better each time.

@mikehill53hotmail-com I had never played the guitar before either, and it was scary moving forward. I definitely wasn’t proficient in the skills taught in the 30 days to play when it was suggested I move onto the daily challenges. What both @albert_d and @Moose408 have said is spot on. The name of the game is progress. Progress over perfection. Keep moving forward, and you will improve. You’ll find some daily challenges to be extremely challenging and difficult. Just do the best you can. Other weeks you’ll find the lessons a little less challenging. Tuck those under your belt and keep moving forward. Glad you’re having fun. That should be what it’s about!

Thank you, counting and transitioning is frustrating. Just like learning to walk!
