How Tactical is my TAC!
1.) How many days per week do you play?
I play 7 days a week but half of the time it is the 10 minutes a day (especially on Mondays for the exercise).
2.) What time of day do you play?
I generally play TAC 1st thing in the morning after my morning walk. If life messes that up, I’ll catch it around noon. I rarely TAC in the evening, BUT do play exercises or scales while TV viewing in the evening (which doesn’t “count” towards TAC.)
3.) Where do you play?
I used to play at my counter top, but this Spring, I have set up a space in my Man Cave and play there now the majority of the time. My wife likes that because I’m out of her way and I’ll generally play longer when I’m in the Man Cave.
4.) What was your guitar life like before having a guitar routine & how has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you? (if possible name 3 ways).
Before TAC my playing was haphazard, random, and unfocused. It was not deliberate and mostly relearning songs I had accumulated over time.
Implementing a regular routine has:
A. Strengthened my hands to the point they are more nimble and play is more clean.
B. Improved my theoretical understanding of what I’m doing musically which has added a whole new dimension of fun (Fretboard Wizard is the doorway to Sing a Long Shangrila).
C. Given me confidence and legitimacy as a genuine guitar enthusiast (you thought I was going to say Geek didn’t you).
D. Made my overall perspective on a Blessed Life even more joyful. It is fun to feel like you are on The Santa Fe Trail making progress even if the terrain seems very similar on a daily basis. You know it’s not the same when you look back on where you where just a few months ago.
5.) Bonus Question: What is one non-guitar item that is a must have in your guitar routine?
I frequently follow up practice with a quick Sudoku puzzle if time allows.
