    ITHOTMK is a piece of orchestral music composed by Edvard Grieg in 1875. It repeats a musical phrase multiple times; starting at a modest pace, increasing in speed, intensity, and in adding more and more instruments, building up. Of course you cannot copy that on acoustic guitar, but I found that by playing that phrase in several places on the guitar neck, and building in speed; it is a great workout for the fretting hand (using the pinky quite a bit), and for flat picking (at least at the level I am on, which I realize is not very experienced). I really like the sound of the phrase also; and that it gave me an exercise that is fun and musical. I put this together from two different sources. I made some flubs in it; but that isn’t new.

    That was really cool😎 @Philb 👍 I’m going to have to study this video more closely to try and do it too🤔 Just like you said, an exercise (or is it a musical phrase?🤦‍♂️) that is musical (or is it an exercise?🙆‍♂️)

    @Bill_Brown Thanks Bill. It was fun, and helpful for some fretting practice. I hand wrote up a Tab for it to help myself learn it. The parts are interchangeable of course; but the tab is as I played it (each 4 bars), except in playing it I repeated the opening . I can attach it as a PDF file if you would like.

    Enjoyed your rendition @Philb. Edvard Grieg is a favorite composer of mine. I have a trip planned to Norway in 2022 and plan to visit his homestead where he wrote many of his compositions. Your playing has back memories of Disney’s “Fantasia” 🧙‍♂️

    @stevieblues Thanks much!

    @Guitargeezer I remember it in Fantasia also. That was nice animation with the music. Thanks for listening.

    Here is my homemade tab. It is all 8th notes unless there is a check
    mark over a note for a quarter note, or an x over a note for a half
    note.

    Nice scale exercise, @Philb ! Fun melody with some heaviness to it. I will download your tab and have some fun. Before that though, I’ll give Grieg’s Peer Gynt a listen. I have not heard it for a few years and always liked that piece of orchestral music. 🎶
