  • KFF Song Circle

Last night about 1 am, at the opening of 49th Kerrville Music Festival, I found myself in a camp song circle with 12 people and other observers , two od which were on stage performers. When the circle came to me, I played two back pocket cover songs and did fine. And I understood what was going on theory wise as each person played. When the song was a cover, I jammed along. I’ve had a goal in my WOGI to do an open mic since pre COVID. I counted this as my #smallwin to cross it off. Though I was self conscious, it was exhilarating and fun.

That’s awesome. I think I should make being comfortable in a song circle a goal for myself. I tend to avoid them. This is a great win!

Well done. This is a BIG win for sure and next time it will seem so natural you’ll just be able to enjoy it all the more. There is nothing like the experience of playing for and with other people.
