Lessons on muted notes
I tried to search the skills lessons to play muted notes for rhythm effects, either with a flat pick or fingerstyle. You know, the ones that show up as all x’s on tabs. I’m attaching a screenshot of a line.
So far, I didn’t find any. If anyone has seen them, please let me know! I have a general idea of how to do it, but I was hoping Tony made a lesson about it.

Hi @Alisa , I did see a video on YT where someone was showing how to mute strings while strumming, and he suggested placing the heel of the palm across the strings that you want muted and doing so that your wrist is laying on the bridge. I hope that makes sense and helps you out👍

Thanks, Bill, that might be it for the flatpicking. Further internet research taught me it’s called “percussive techniques.” I found some videos on youtube, but I was hoping there is one here. I like the way Tony really breaks it down and then composes a fun exercise around it.

Hi @Alisa – For the life of me I can’t think of any specific lessons I’ve seen on TAC that cover that. I think it’s a great topic and tool that we could use. My suggestion is to send a note to TAC Support and ask if that might be something Tony would consider teaching for us.
