LIVE Virtual Open Mics every weekend (Join here)
If you are new to TAC or you just weren’t aware of it before, we started LIVE Virtual Open Mics every Friday via Zoom since May 2020. These are member-initiated events began as a means for TAC communities to stay connected since local Jam Groups were not able to meet in person due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Since virtual meetings have no distance barriers, all TAC members were and are invited to participate.
Since May 2020, other TAC-wide Virtual Open Mics (VOM) have launched on Saturdays, Sundays, and every other Thursday. The Thursday and Sunday VOMs are more convenient for European time zones but note that all of our VOMs are open to all TAC members worldwide.
What are Virtual Open Mics and how do they work? Prior to the pandemic, Open Mics were held in various venues like coffee houses, bars/restaurants, community centers, and even laundromats. The concept being that a microphone is placed on a stage or the front of a room and it is open to individuals whose voices are amplified to express thoughts and ideas to all those within listening distance, hence the term Open Mic. In our case, our open mic is for music expression and due to the pandemic, we went virtual since we were not able to attend our favorite venues in person. To go virtual, we use the video conferencing application known as Zoom, which works with most electronic devices (e.g. desktop computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones). The Zoom app (a.k.a. client) is available for download through your device’s app stores or by going to https://zoom.us. Having a Zoom account is not required to attend our Virtual Open Mics. You can simply launch the app, join our “meeting”, and participate in the show. Although you may be able to attend without downloading the app, your experience will be leaps and bounds more pleasurable if you do.
Who are the Virtual Open Mics for? Simply put, the Virtual Open Mics are for EVERYONE. Whether you are a performer or a spectator, or a beginner player or a pro, all TAC members are welcome to participate in these weekly events. Participants in our Virtual Open Mics are generally:
Beginner Guitar Players – who display their first scales, chord progressions, or songs. In some cases, players are performing in front of an audience for their first time.
Stage-Nerves Players – who practice performing in front of audiences (us) to work on taming those darned nerves.
Experienced Players – who are mostly guitar hobbyists with varied catalogs but mainly play at home and are now finding broader, appreciative audiences in us.
Seasoned Performers – who seek playing outlets when their local venues had closed.
Songwriters – who debut new songs and share them with fresh listening ears.
Guitar Geeks – everyone else who may or may not perform, but also support those who perform and enjoy the company of fellow Geeks, who they now call friends.
Regardless of where you find yourself fitting in, you are welcome to enrich your guitar journey by joining us and hopefully participating in this unique experience.

Virtual Open Mic fine print:
All TAC members are welcome to attend and participate. General open mic rules apply. Performing is not required to attend. Members can simply watch and participate as a supportive virtual audience member; however, we encourage everyone to enhance their TAC experiences and enrich our TAC Community by sharing their music with us LIVE – perform a song and make it a #smallwin.
These Virtual Open Mics are run completely by TAC members and are not supported by TAC. Please contact @Real-Vic-G if you require VOM support.
