Beautiful job Marisa!!! This is a very difficult song to pick and sing, that’s why Stevie does not play on this. You, however, did a FANTASTIC JOB!!! Great voice, great playing!!!🌺

Exellent. I enjoyed very much. Thanks for sharing. Watch out Stevie Nicks!!

One of my favourite Fleetwood Mac songs and you did and excellent job with it Marisa!

That was really good! Not only your guitar playing but your singing too!
Thanks for sharing Marisa 😊

Marisa
You really incorporated that solo smoothly into the song and kept the picking and singing totally under control. Not easy to do. Its so great to see you so excited about nailing a song. You should be very proud.

Great job Marissa! I can’t sing and play at the same time yet, but hopefully in time:)
Keep up the great work! -

Bravo Marisa.
A lovely song. I admire fingerpicking very much and keep working on my technique. I can tell you’ve been working hard on yours by watching this video.
How long have you been practicing this song to be at this point with it?
Regards,
David

Hi @David_G… I believe I started looking at this as soon as I learned some finger-picking with TAC- prob in January. It was on my List…Once I had the Travis picking down, I played it that way but felt it was boring since I didn’t know Lindsay’s flourishes. I found the alternate picking in February or March and started working on that. By April I thought it needed the solo, so I modified one and added that in. Putting it all together with smooth transitions was a bit tricky. I hit it hard in May, playing it almost every day, sometimes for an hour or two. OBSESSION! 😂 I firmly stand behind learning anything in manageable chunks.

So you did spend considerable time on the song and technique of it Marisa.
May I ask for advice on learning a song – I’ve been in TAC now since 6/1/20 and playing since 1/1/20. I have a bunch of songs in my “song book” which I have always loved and wanted to play, probably 20 of them in there now.
Problem is, and a good problem to have because there are so many great songs, I keep adding to the song book without mastering any single one of them.
Reading your reply above, and watching your videos for Landslide and Harvest Moon, makes me understand how much effort goes into really owning a song.
What would you advise – pick something and really hone in on it or keep playing them all and gradually improve on them each over time?
It’s hard to be patient, the urge is to play everything I like. But I wonder if this holds me back.
Any thoughts on this you can share?
Take care,
David

I think everyone’s ride is a little different, but I’ll offer you this… I work on a song until I have it down, then I shoot a video and move on. I will focus on tricky transitions or anything that is not flowing. Once I figure out my approach, learning the song is easier. I mean, playing a song on 1 guitar that was recorded with many guitars/ instruments…you still need to catch the essence. I revisit those songs in my songbook periodically to make sure they are still in my muscle memory and sometimes I add additional flourishes as I learn. Also, make sure you notate , so you can remember all of it. The songs are coming quicker now, for sure. I would suggest you focus on one song to get it down as your main practice, but play through the others periodically to keep them fresh. What songs are you working on? Make sure you are having fun! I hope this helps.
