Martin 00018 CS sinker Testrun
Posted by ErikBog on April 4, 2021 at 2:03 amHi Folks,
My first post on the new site. It happened…I traded in my trusted Furch for this beauty.
It’s a 2016 custom shop Martin 00018 sitka (vts) over sinker mahogany and a special thanks to @dmart for his great advice and inspiration.
As much as I loved the Furch this is such a great all rounder, mellow, somewhat compressed, in a very nice toned down package. Love the simplicity of the looks. So my GAS is cured for a while.

Nice run through on that 000 18 @ErikBog . Looks and sounds really nice. You are right about the sound being mellow and toned down. It didn’t seem to have the chime tone that I normally associate with a Martin. And the same was true for @DMart ‘s when I had the opportunity to listen to his. Anyways, happy NGD!

Thank you for your comment @bill_brown. I have been looking for a smaller body guitar that could handle strumming like a dreadnougt without sacrificing to much in the finger style department. This one fitted that bill. Also played a Bourgeois generation OM that came really close, but was a bit more modern than this one and came with a full length neck. Also a glorious guitar, but this one drew me in the Martin camp.
I have heard many great Martin’s (@dmart @julie_i @marty69 @dand)here to always keep me interested, but till now never played one that convinced me. This one did. Not as refined in the finishing as some other brands but that tone is really something.

I have a 000 15m and am very happy with it, but when I see one like your’s, I do feel some GAS!

Fantastic guitar @ErikBog …sounds like you’ll get a lot out of this great sounding guitar!
Funny, my Furch is on the chopping block too thanks to my Waterloo acquisition. It’s a great sounding guitar but I’m just more comfortable with a bit more room at the saddle and the Furch only has 2 & 3/16″. My two Martins are 2 & 5/16″ and the Waterloo is 2 & 6/16″…makes all the difference to me!
Anyway…great sounding Martin!

Sure she will @marty69 and If not I can always set it on fire to find my way in a cold damp cave. You just never know when a guitar is useful, is all I’m sayin’😉

That is a huge compliment @fly just stick with this program. I learned most of it here the past three years or so and I am sure you can to. Remember: have fun and play on!

Erik those are truly words of inspiration!!! That guitar just sounds outstanding from the first note and you are a player who can bring out it’s potential. Thanks for posting

Thank you @Marisa and I am blessed with those fingers, only the wiring between them and my brain can be a bit of a curse at times 😉

Well, that Damage Done snippet was spot-on, so, I’d say the appropriate neurons are firing. You will be hearing me curse you, because you’ve just inspired me, and I’m afraid I may be biting off more than I can chew! 😂

@ErikBog, they can’t get rid of me that easily. I really find value in the lessons, even if I do hate the ones with drone notes. Every time I play a drone note it’s like I messed up. I tend to do the exercises minus the drones.
On another note, I do hope the forums get faster and funner. I will be disappointed if the pages are still loading slowly a week from now.

Beautiful guitar @ErikBog. Congratulations! I especially liked it fingerpicked, but yes indeed it’s a great all rounder.
