Second Taciversary (back in April)
OK, I finally feel the need to get this posted. I was not in a very good place with my guitar journey in April when my second taciversary actually occurred. I felt a pull back in the community and a disruption in the participation and good vibes and I was really struggling with my own progress. I kept pushing on; I guess I had a deep unconscious belief in the method and this community.
At some point, I had a hard conversation with myself and wrote out what I could do to improve my use of the daily challenges: 1) did I practice the warm-ups and try to improve the tone or speed on other days than Monday 2) If I didn’t quite get the timing of a lick did I keep working on it until I did 3) did I really try to make an improv every week or did I just give up after a few tries 4) did I get the rhythm progressions up to full speed or did I give up 5) and since my chord transitions are my worst skill did I practice them all week 6) and finally since I felt like positive participation slumped around the website change, was I listening to the improv posts and making comments or commenting on the daily challenges or small wins?
Maybe my journey was the result of what I was putting into it and the level of my own participation. I started thinking back to the first year; had I made progress from year one – you bet. In year 1, I had to learn all the chords, and I could not make barre chords. OK, year two I make those barre chords; maybe transitions are still a challenge but my hands know how to make those chords and hold those strings just right to get a good sound. I do all the daily challenges on .75 or 1 speed; except the speed challenges.
I have come a long way and I do feel the support of the community. Any posting always gets an encouraging word and a friendly reminder that we are in this together to support and enjoy all our guitar journeys. Year three my goal is to get chord transitions up to speed and post tac songs, and more improvs.
Thank you Tony for creating this method and community and thank you fellow TACers for all the encouraging words to help me along my journey.
Year three will be the best year yet.
