These past two weeks have been a chore; guitar-wise. I’ve been doing the challenges as normal but the enjoyment wasn’t what it usually is. Thankfully today’s lesson, along with yesterday’s speed challenge I’d forgotten to do, put a smile back on my face.

Sometimes you just gotta keep your head up during those times; or at least know it’s only temporary. I knew well the latter so I am extra glad today has seen a return to my positive norm. It’s not so much a small win for myself but a reminder to others just starting out to hang in there. That lull you’re in is just a brief- but necessary- pot-hole on the road to success. As weird as it sounds, learn to enjoy them because it’ll be those character defining moments that’ll harden your resolve- and make you a better player!

I also played Emily, my Tanglewood during the lick. I’ve had her since 2010 and though she is a lower mid-range priced guitar, I think she’s aged wonderfully. Very pleasing to play!

Very inspiration @xiao-bai – Thank you for the message, and I’m glad some joy has returned. I’ve experienced several slumps and have always come out the other side.

Wow, thank you for this. I know exactly what you mean when you mentioned about having those necessary moments of struggle. I’ve struggled plenty during my guitar journey, even to the point that I thought it would never happen multiple times. And yet, here I am still trying and realizing that achieving success and having fun IS possible, no matter how long that slump may last. Glad to hear you had that crucial moment of joy come back, those little moments fuel us to move forward to what is possible.

@xiao-bai Thank you for your encouraging words. I just signed up with TAC on May 17th, working my way through the 30 days program and Fretboard Wizardy, and am truly excited to be a guitar player rather than the dabbler I’ve been for the past 15+ years. Yes, I’m excited again but reading your post reminds me that those slumps may come. Love your outlook regarding them; “learn to enjoy them….”. Very sound and encouraging words. Thanks. – Wil

Great, man. Keep it up! Also, your TACiversary is the same date as my running anniversary; May 17! Good luck, dude!

@xiao-bai. I’m going through the doldrums now. No problem sitting down with the guitar but lack of noticeable progress is a pain. I’m spending more time on the daily challenges, especially the fingerpicking ones as getting better with fingerpicking is a goal I have set for this year but progress, if any, is very slow.

Your post does help and I’m going to try to be aware of the ‘small wins’ no matter how small.

@bugmeist Did you try GuitarNick’s stuff? It’s on Patreon, https://www.patreon.com/guitarnick/posts. He has some really nice-sounding stuff for fingerpicking, different levels of difficulty. I love fingerpicking as well.

Real progress comes slow; it is a painful fact of life. You are improving, trust me. Don’t give up; you’ll get there. The fact it isn’t easy and frustrating is the challenge; if it was easy, everyone would do it. The struggles are what make your small wins all the more satisfying. I believe in you and I’m 100% sure every other TAC member does, too.

      加油, dude!

I decided to cancel this product with 53 days to go in the 60 day guarantee period. I canceled the auto renew, but I could not find information about a refund, other than I must request it. I sent an email asking that.

Until I am granted a refund, I’m a member until May 29, 2022, so I am asking this group if they know if the guarantee is legitimate. Had there been information on the Tony Polecastro site, I would not be asking the group: Is anyone aware if anyone has ever received a refund for this course subscription?

    Thank you,

    Sarah

Hi, Sarah. Thanks for your message. The website is run by a small number of people so I’m totally sure they’ll get back to you regarding the refund. Just hang in there.😊

I’m sorry you’re not sticking around but that’s completely understandable; everyone has different goals and things that work, or not, for them.

Is there anything else you need help with?

      Kind regards.🙏

I sought this post out today in search of comfort, and it delivered. Suddenly playing became overshadowed with self-criticism, doubts, and discontent. My ears are focussed on the mistakes and buzzing sounds, fingers cry out in pain, and heart fails to believe in progress. This post reminds me it is a temporary and necessary pothole in the road. Thank you.
