TAC Day 74!
I seem to have rounded the corner of the wall I was running into last week. I stepped away from the Strumming Jumpstart Skill Course because my chord transitions are trainwrecks and I was getting frustrated. I jumped to the Flatpicking course thinking it might be something I could work on until I can hone in my chord transitions a little better. I seem to do alright with scales so flatpicking seemed like the logical move.
Well ding dang durn! I just played the first half of “Billy in the Lowground” with no mistakes at regular speed. It may not be a big win but it’s my most significant small win in a couple of weeks.

Congratulations, Mike-F, on your journey with TAC and the Guitar. Welcome to the Struggle and then learn club. I have had an incredible journey at TAC and have gone through the same process. It is a lifelong journey; enjoy each day on its own merits.

1. 74 days is a huge win. 74 days of consistent practice and learning.
2. Knowing that the best solution when frustrated is to step back, take a break from it, and to not quit but to move forward in a different direction. You can always revisit strumming, and I bet you’ll be surprised at how quickly you pick it up next time.
3. Great start to playing your first song with newfound flatpicking skills.
I think there is a 4th win in there too.
