How many days a week do you play?- I look forward to playing every day. I have the luxury of being retired and I’m able to play almost any time that I like. I rarely miss a day unless family events take priority. It’s always the best part of my day.

What time do you play?- I play in the mornings after I’ve been properly caffeinated. It’ s a great way to start the day when the house is quiet and there are no distractions. I will often play again in the late afternoon after chores are finished. Good time for a happy hour.

Where do you play?- I play in my study where I have my special chair and computer setup. When the weather warms up I will play regularly out on the deck or in the garden. That’s where I’m most inspired.

What was your guitar life like before having a guitar routine?- I did not have a guitar life prior to TAC. I had dabbled in high school and I was an avid listener and fan of acoustic players but I didn’t have the opportunity to start until I was retired. If I had not found TAC, I may still be in the weeds.

How has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you?- I’m kind of like a dog. I thrive on consistent routines and planning to survive. I do not excel in chaotic situations without a clear plan. I know from other experiences that focus and consistency get me to where I need to be. TAC was the best answer for my guitar beginnings.

The other benefit of TAC was in helping me to overcome my lack of patience and self awareness. This is not an easy hobby to begin with. Progress comes in fits starts and sometime seems overwhelming. I was forced to see the big picture and get some perspective on what was in front of me. I had to become more disciplined, focused and realistic. I also had to learn to take more direct responsibility for my own practice plans and progress. I can’t lie, there have been times when I’ve gotten very discouraged, but I’ve always been able to work through by sticking to the plan.
