  • the joy(?) of folk songs

Posted by Mrfredsporty on August 10, 2022 at 4:43 am

Almost all 5 of my songs that Im playing and learning are folk songs like “dont think twice”, “Polly Von” and”Fernario” that require singing. I force myself to record my voice almost daily. The result is that Ive gone from fingernails on a chalkboard to scraping on a rusty nail. so, that is a small win. As much as it is uncomfortable, especially in the beginning ,daily recording does seem to help. You get an unvarnished sound . good or bad or both. So, I guess I will continue to scare my cats and worry my neighbors. In a couple of weeks Im hoping to do the same to my beloved tac members as I make my first performance here. (yikes!)

    Hey @Mrfredsporty ,

Good for you. I came from a non musical family. I didn’t sing in the shower. I didn’t sing to the car radio. So when I finally started singing late in life, it took a long time for me to learn to sing. But, you have to start and you have to practice. That’s all. Those vocal cords are muscles, so they do get better.

I look forward to hearing/seeing your video.
