  • Two Pad Stack Lick

Posted by Shucks on November 3, 2023 at 4:17 pm

    Dear Sir:

In the Lick lesson, Lick ‘Two Pad Stack’ Tony played an intro and exit finger picking with the Lick in the middle.

Is there any way to get a “Tab” of the “bookends” he demonstrated with the Lick?.

I have watched it several times but just cannot figure it out.

Thanks & Hang in there Bill Jones

I went back and rewatched that lesson. About 8 minutes in Tony seems to pick and E minor chord and inserts the lick between the chords. The picking pattern appears to me to be “Travis picking” (see Laura Bateman on You Tube for easy lesson on Travis Picking). It is 1, 2&3&4& [t,titmti]. But there’s not a tab for it. [T=thumb,i=index,m=middle]. I hope that is useful.

@Shucks Great initiative trying to figure out the pattern being played. Unfortunately ther is no tab for it. @albert_d has given some great insight into the lick and great direction. Good luck with it!

    Thanks.

If I had one suggestion for Tony it would be when he says:

“And then you can add this to spice it up” he would provide the tab for the “Spice up” part.

I sometimes can figure it out but more often than not I can’t. I will give it a try with your suggestions. If I get it I will post the answer.

    Albert&Lorraine

I played the video at half speed and came up with:

Fretting an E minor chord (only need to hold down the D string 2nd fret) I think it is:

    (T thumb I index M middle)

    T E string – T D string – T E string – I B string – M e string – I B string – I G string

Anyway once again thanks for your help

    Hang in there Bill
