VIRTUAL OPEN MIC ANNOUNCEMENT – Please read if you attend the VOMs
Posted by Real-Vic-G on April 1, 2021 at 8:07 amIn an effort to keep the Play for Us forum focused on performances, the Virtual Open Mic teams, in conjunction with TAC, have agreed to move our communications regarding theme announcements and Zoom links, and other VOM news offsite. Please follow us to our respective blogs for the latest updates and Zoom links to the next round of Virtual Open Mics. Feel free to bookmark or subscribe to any or all of our blogs.

Friday Night Live VOM: https://fnlvom.blogspot.com/
Saturday Nite Live VOM: https://snlvom.blogspot.com/
Sunday VOM w/Altitude: https://SundayVWA.blogspot.com
Although our meeting information is offsite, we still encourage you to post your performances here at the Play for Us forum.
If you have yet to attend a Virtual Open Mic, the invitation is wide open for you to stop on by to check us out. Your attendance will not require you to perform. We are a fun group of TAC members and newcomers are welcomed with open arms. Please stop on by if you can and share in our fun.
Thanks,

This is great, Vic. Thank you for all your extra efforts putting these blog sites together on blogspot. I encourage everybody to “Favorite” this post so they can easily return to it for the respective blogs. Or bookmark it in your browser, or save the links in a text file on your computer.

May I suggest that you “favorite” this thread so you can easily recall it for the links .. you can also “Follow” the blogspot posting for the Friday night VOM to stay up to date on updates but I did not see how you can follow or receive updates on the others?

Well, originally, @MommaTAC , I thought my blog was nothing more than a link so the subscribers or followers gadgets were unnecessary. But, @Real-Vic-G helped me realize that it would be convenient for everyone who wants to attend the Sunday VWA if I would put one of those gadgets on the blog. So I put the subscribers gadget on the home page. But now you have helped me realize I need both. So, the Sunday VWA blog now has a “followers” button. 😊😉

Much like TAC is pretty new, the VOM teams, including me, are new to the Blog-o-sphere so we are learning new features and may still be undergoing some change in the next few days. We’ll have it worked out soon with all of the following options.
I will also add that the ability to Subscribe to our blogs is an option that allows you to get an email whenever we post a new entry to the blog, so this might be a nice feature for some of you.

Well Done @real-vic-G, well done and thanks.
And well done to the other hosts, we have to pick up the pace on Sunday I guess, thanks for leading the way.

@Dirk_R go to the top of this post (and any post for that matter) and look between the post title and the orange Reply button. You should see an orange circle with a star in it. That is your “Favorite” icon. If you click on it, the star will fill in to become solid. That indicates that you “favorite-ed*” the post.
(* – new word to add to the Word of the Day toilet paper roll – 🤣)

Thanks. Man – these fonts. That favorite mark was almost invisible. And I am on a laptop …

@Real-Vic-G — Thanks! I was getting ready to ask that question and thought maybe I should read through all the posts first (what a novel idea).

Thanks for your efforts @Real-Vic-G and looking at the others I need to smarten mine up a bit! It looks as if it was cobbled together in 5 minutes while I was doing two other things – which isn’t far from the truth TBH.

Is it possible to get a post with this information stickied to the top of this forum section?
Just a post with the links and an introduction to what the VOM’s are. This will allow people that are new to TAC to find out about the VOM events and get to the right links so they can participate.
Comments could even be turned off, to there is no further impact to the server.
I am guessing that while the TAC team supports the VOM’s they aren’t a part of the official product that they sell, and they want that distinction to be clear. The one that is stickied there now will probably disappear at some point, and this thread will eventually sink into obscurity.

@Alfred and @Real-Vic-G ,
Will this discourage people from posting their videos onto the TAC forum? It’s hard yet to understand all that is going on and I’m trying to trust that it is for the good of the group.

Hi @Marquita . A lot has happened since we originally posted this conversation. At the VOMs we will continue to encourage performers to post their videos here in the Play for Us forum. This is in line with what TAC wishes to see in this forum. Only the information on how to find our VOMs is going offsite and I’m hoping that the VOMs can be found through word of mouth and through the two posts that are currently in the Play for Us forum….this post and the one that is pinned.

Vic, thank you very much for doing all of this and making it so much easier to participate in the
VOMs.

Thanks so much Don. It so great to see you and Jo at the VOMs. I’m looking forward to seeing you both play one day. It would be a treat for all of us. 👍

Trying my best to keep this post close to the top.
If you enjoy the Virtual Open Mics, I humbly ask that you go to the four blogs at the top of this thread and bookmark them in your favorite browser for easy reference, or subscribe to the blogs so that you can get an email when we post for the upcoming VOM. We may not be posting these links in the forums long term and we’d hate for you to miss out.
If you’ve not gone to any of our VOMs, please visit any one of them just to check it out. Please introduce yourself and just say a quick hello. You do not have to perform in order to attend. We welcome all TAC members to our VOMs.

Thanks for wrangling all the VOM info in one place for us Vic!! I am going to practice my “favorite-ing” skills now… Next on the list is blogging practice… Wow 😝

For you early risers, I’m happy to announce that Dennis G’s Kitchen Sessions now has a blog too. Find out the latest info from Dennis and the link to log in to his VOM here:

This is great. Thanks for doing this. Now I have all of them in one “VOM” bookmark folder.
-
-
For everyone’s conveniences, I’ve worked with the other VOM blog designers and now each VOM blog contains links to the other VOM blogs so you can have quick access to jump around among our blogs and get the latest updates from each VOM. Look for those links in the sidebars of our blogs.
-
That is an awesome development! Thanks to all the hosts, and blog curators!
