The VwA today had a suggested theme of “Creativity.” Woody Guthrie left behind 3,000 plus song written but not scored (darned creative I say), and never performed because his Huntington’s stopped him performing in 1948. Many have been “completed” by other artists working with his Foundation, and Billy Bragg and Wilco did this one.

Number 11 and month 8 of my Woody Guthrie year-long project.

I hope you enjoy, and thanks to all who listened live.

I found my way to the The Mermaid Avenue album about 10 years after it was released. Oddly it was a punk band who mentioned Billy Bragg in a song that got me in to Billy and when I dove into his work, I found that album.

    Great cover!

they are great musicallists, and I have no doubt Guthrie would approve of the sound they added to his fury.
