These lessons are exactly what I have been looking for….the explanation and then the different speeds to play along with. The direct speeds are so very helpful!! I am so enjoying these lessons and advancing more than I ever have on the guitar. So glad I signed up for the TAC and Song Academy!!!!!
Love this walk up! builds the spread between my 1,2 and 3,4 fingers!
Great walk up. Phew, my fingers are tired – in a good way! It’s slowly coming together now. Thanks!
Jarret.
Nice work!!!
Cheers,
Tony
Hello Guy’s
This lesson up to now has tony
explaning the section but there Is NO
Demo as in other song lessons
OR is there something I am doing
incorrectly?
Les,
Sorry this is an old lesson that has yet to be refilmed… things have come quite a way since this one 🙂
Cheers,
Tony
Yes. This lesson jumps right from the explanation to the slow medium fast exercise. Tony doesn’t
play in the explanations like the later lessons. You are seeing the dawn of the mastodons in this instructional format.
I always had a hard time imitating and learning to play faster songs. Boy, these “slow – medium – fast” modes makes a big difference… thanks Tony!
Darwin,
You are very welcome, glad you dig the varied speeds 🙂
Cheers,
Tony
Section 3 is giving me problems. Every time that I hammer on the middle finger of the c chord it never rings clear. Any suggestions?
Michael,
A great way to help this out is to just single out that string and motion… once you get it clear try and bring it into the rhythm. Another thing that will help is really making sure that you are coming down on that hammer on with the very tip of your finger. I hope this helps 🙂
Cheers,
Tony
I have been working on this for about a month. Like most people that walk up to the 1st fret second string is hard. I have listened to you use this rhythm reviewing guitars and I just love it. One of my goals is to play this well at speed.
Michael,
I am glad you are digging into this one!!! Keep at it and you will certainly get it up to speed!!!
Cheers,
Tony
Tony, thanks for pointing out the location of the tabs and dropping a link. I took the time to slow down today and this piece finally fell into place. I’m traveling for work this week so I’m practicing on my new Martin Dreadnought Jr (bought in part based upon your review) and it is beginning to flow. As my Daddy told me once, “Son its a good thing you ain’t a doctor because you have no patience!”
Thanks.
Charles,
You are most welcome!!! I am glad you are digging into this. Also, congrats on the new dreadnought JR!!!
Cheers,
Tony
Where can I get the tabs for this, I am struggling to get the walk up down in the right progression!
Charles,
Thank you for writing in, the tabs for this are on the very first page of the challenge. The download link sits right atop the video. If you are midway through the challenge and want to keep rolling with it here is a link for you 🙂

This looks so easy, but it has been my nemesis. I just figured out I have to push with the pinky and ring finger while on the E and B strings to reach the first and second frets of the A string. I was reaching and lifting both fingers giving one heck of a buzz. I am slow, what can I say.
Dan,
Great progress!!! And I am really glad that you posted your experience and development. You discovered a crucial element to making this work, those darn high strings during the bass walk. Great job!!!
Cheers,
Tony
Having a tough time with that 1st finger stretch on the G walk up 1st fret second string, keeps pulling my 3rd and 4th fingers apart on the E & B strings not sounding clean at all keep getting a buzz but not the good beer one.
