  1. This felt good. A little hard still for me to not be distracted with the backing track and getting the beat correct. But fun nonetheless

  2. Oh, love the backing track with this scale. The leverage Vib is still the hardest for me. Liked the edgy. Still prefer the wiggly ants in your pants style, however. Enjoyed this exercise!

  3. I was thinking these challenges lacked a bit in content…however I do admit I had fun playing to the backing track tonight. Just playin some blues….

  4. Edgy is definitely the easiest for me. Challenging to remember the scale on the different strings while attempting to improvise and work some vibrato in. Thanks for the reminder that this is a process, Tony. I was getting pretty frustrated, but already I’m finding vibrato a bit easier. Less of a death grip with my left hand helps, with is a Good Thing.

  5. It’s probably just me, but this week has been a little boring. I do like the backing track today, so I look forward to learning it tomorrow. Happy Hump Day 😉

  6. My pinky surprised me. Actually worked as well as or better than my index finger. Middle and ring fingers were best though.

  7. I’m going to play with this again tomorrow. It sounds pretty good.
I have limited success with edgy vibrato using my pinky. Very limited. My middle and ring fingers work best with it.

  8. Went pretty well. Did slides to a vibrato and that sounded cool to me. It got better the more I did it but it is a bit tiring. Great tool!

  9. I am only 6 weeks in to Daily Challenge and weeks 2,3, and 4 I was traveling. Last week BB and this week Vibrato – whew! Feeling like a newbie for sure! And my win is showing up and trying my best, even when arthritis is hindering a bit of movement and reach. my win is moving the string back and forth even if it’s not vibrating much yet. I’m thinking my guitar is too old. LOL See you tomorrow!

  10. I checked Fretborad Wizard and I was charged $237 but the Wizard is much less then that !!!!!~

PLEASE EMAIL ME AND EXPLAIN WHY !!!!

  11. Good tip to keep finger close to the fret. Took time to get the groove to fill in the spaces but slowly got there. Small win , new technique learned.

  12. Wednesdays are always a lot of fun! I found some musical phrases that sounded really nice, I did seem to have a little trouble finding the rhythm to fill in the spaces, but towards the end I think I finally found it. It was a lot of fun, and that is my big win for the day!

  13. By the way, I was watching on YouTube “Wish You Were Here” and in a background story on the song, David Gilmore said he came up with the opening riff one day when he was noodling around and got obsessed with the riff and kept playing it over and over and it finally ended up as the opening in the song. Love me some Pink Floyd. Oh, to be able to improv like David Gilmore….and others.

  14. Well, just playing the scale notes to the backing track wasn’t too interesting so I added some slides, hammer ons, etc and it sounded little better. Not good, but better. Just wondering, why can’t we venture off to some other strings for the improv. Tony’s always encouraging to spread our wings and try different things.

  15. Got the edgy vibrato down pretty well. My index finger is loosening up after the last 3 days, so that’s a big win. It took me a minute to get the feel for the timing of the backing track, but once I figured that out, solos were a lot fun.

  16. I am having trouble distinguishing the three techniques frankly. I keep going back to Monday and Tuesday’s lessons, but they are all basically just wiggling the fret finger. Today’s technique was the easiest for me. Practicing over the backing track was good practice for the technique, but it sure did not sound like a solo to me (unlike last weeks “King Court” which I loved).

  17. I was able to make this work by putting a little pressure on the string before moving it – bending it slightly before moving it.

  18. Of all the vibrato techniques I find this the easiest one followed by the confined vibrato, still working on the door knob opening leveraged vibrato like BB loves!

  19. I like this technique. The most I’ve improvised in quite a while because it’s a simple scale. This taught me that I am holding myself back by not knowing the scales. I am going to have to learn the scales to make the improv days more enjoyable.

  20. Fun challenge. Soloing on one string (I get it…we’re working on vibrato) doesn’t offer a lot of options but the occasional “blue notes” I throw in make me smile.

  21. This week’s lesson provides an excellent set of tools for this technique. I enjoy the process used at TAC, which involves some easy stuff and then some difficult stuff. I am always learning new techniques. I hope everyone is doing well, and I can’t wait to read the comments.
