god, he looks so young here! I guess I looked young in the late ’70’s too. Legend had it at the time that he developed that singing style singing with small rocks in his mouth. I don’t know that to be true. Anyway, thanks for sharing all these inspirations Tony.
Peter
Omg, this is a throwback. love zydeco
The voice sounds familiar but I cannot place where I have heard it.
Holy smokes! That was some funky stuff! So much fun, really enjoyed it. I was exposed to so many new things from just one artist. Acoustic paired with tuba, The sound of a metal thumb pick, and hummed yodeling!! I’m not even sure what to call this genre. Sweet beard, cool hat, foot-tapping music, definitely eye-opening and entertaining!
Love Leon Redbone. He has one of the great Christmas CDs from at least 25 years ago – mostly guitar and tuba.
Walking Stick is great. Louis Armstrong is one of my all-time faves, one of the great voices of all time, and Redbone definitely does this one justice. Thanks for sharing this Tony 🙂
Excellent, i especially like the first video. Very easy to listen to and let yourself drift away.
Love Leon. Saw him back in the mid-70’s – yes, dating myself LOL My biggest takeaway from his playing is that he’s having FUN
I love it!!!
Those Vocals are inspirational in that last one. Holy Cow that make me want to try to sing.
Loved this! I have to admit though that it’s my clarinet I’ll be getting out to try and figure out how he did the sound effects at 3:55!
