This is a great song! I think it will take me awhile to get it up to speed. it seemed like there was a quantum leap in pace between the medium speed and fast speed recordings for each section. By the way, working on this ‘dawn of TAC’ era lesson really shows me how important it is that you now give the (4) dead strums to establish rhythm at the beginning of each of your current daily lessons and song lessons. That really helps the student get into the rhythm and be ready to play the section. Thanks for your continuous improvements to TAC and congratulations for keeping it going for 5 years! Looking forward to the 10year TAC anniversary.
Getting the rhythm correct on this is kicking my butt. I submitted one performance and didn’t hear so I started thinking maybe I didn’t pass (not really but it did make me go back and listen) In the relistening I could feel the rhythm was off so I set about to correct. I kept trying to play it faster and I thought I was getting behind but it was actually the opposite I think. I was not giving full value to the 1/4 notes which gave me the feeling of always being off. So in fact I was getting ahead. I hope I am right so this little puzzle can be put to bed and we can get to playing. If I get it worked out I will resubmit.
Jeff,
You will get it!!! Great job on being conscious of your timing, hang in there!!!
Cheers,
Tony
Hi Tony,
Love Kicking Rocks – its a bit stony (see what I did there?) LOL!! Excellent tutorial. It is a fun song to learn although I can only play it medium speed otherwise my fingers and timing get all jumbled up if I go to fast speed. Thanks for writing this song and sharing.
With Smiles,
Darleen
