Section 2 is tricky!
So how do I count that last measure of meat and potatoes so that I am starting on the Open D on the ONE count. Is there a 1/4 note rest that seperates the two?
I think it is better to start the measure 1 (x4) on 2 count and that way it launches…right?
Jeff,
It really depends on how you perform the kick off as that can dictate how it feels going into the tune.
Cheers,
Tony
Jeff,
Great question here!!! Make sure you are not rushing the initial slide as it will throw everything off down the line and make sure that the 3 beat is being held for it’s full duration as that will keep things straight going into the opening melodic measure. I hope this helps 🙂
Cheers,
Tony
Bingo, That is my problem, 1. I did not give a full 1/8 count to that first note instead I made it a single note doublet if that is even a thing and 2. I did not give that 4th A note a full 1/4 count instead I just swung it on and 1/8 count so that there was a stutter (felt right) but was causing me fits. I compressed a full 1/4 out of the count. Back to the drawing board retrain the muscle memory. This is THE (yep, the ultimate) most fun song to play and I am determined to get it right and do it justice. Thanks for clearing up the mystery for me.
