The rhythmic notation is different from the way you are playing it in the 12 th measure .
On the music notation, the E is played on the + of 3 .You don’t play it this way. You pause before you play the E. The pause should be on the 4e count . Which is the correct way to play this?? After 6 years,it would be nice to see corrections made in the videos that don’t match the music notation.
Agreed. And if you notate it as played, that would seem to move the sixteenth notes at the end of measure 12 to the beginning of measure 13, which would make sense, I think, since that’s the beginning of the B7 chord. In turn, adding the two sixteenth notes to measure 13 means that the dotted quarter note at the end of measure 13 would have to become a quarter note in order to keep time. I could be counting wrong, though.
The tab and the video are not the same. Which way should you play it , the ending of measure 12.
Caleb,
Default to the video here. There is a hammer on and syncopation that is not notated in the tab due to some software limitations, sorry for any confusion.
Cheers,
Tony
Thanks for the help Tony.
The tab looks a little off at at the end of the 12th measure compared to the video. Does anyone know what the correct ending notes are?
Never mind! I was hearing it incorrectly.
This is song is such a bear for me. I have walked away from and come back to it. Then I listen to Tony again and find that I have missed something he clearly says to do. What a journey. Thanks Tony.
Dan,
I really commend your tenacity with this song!!! When I first learned this song it took me about 3 months until I had all the parts… and then it was trying to remember it all… This song is a bugger, but if you keep at it you will have it in your repertoire in no time. Keep it up!!!
Cheers,
Tony
Okay, almost there, I had to resort to my old friend the metronome and clap counting while Tony plays. I am laughing because I have the metronome set at 40 bpm and it doesn’t go any lower. I could assign the “ands” (1 and 2 and 3 etc.) a beat but I think I got it at 40 without having to go lower. I have been at this section for a week but learning time matters not. Only the time between the notes is important. I think I can I think I can……
Jeff,
Keep chugging along Jeff you are doing great and taking all the right steps!!!
Cheers,
Tony
Thanks Tony, encouragement is most appreciated. I got a nice boost from Mary Young as well. TAC keeps me going.
MARK Young not Mary….typo
I think the tab may be wrong. Looks like a pinch on the 7th fret a and the 8th fret b on the video. The tab has them playing in succession. This sounds a lot more correct. Shoulda watched the video before trying to learn the tab.
This part is fun once I got the bends right.
Puh thats bot easy…
This is really hard for me to get! Don’t know why exactly. Hard to keep the alternating bass going the right way with the upper notes, and hard to get the top note of the bar to sound. Going to take lots of practice.
