I notice the other comments are from 2 & 3 years ago, so I’m assuming my TAB has been corrected. I don’t see an open 4th string anywhere in section 6.
Hey Tony, I’m trying to get the feel of the little hesitation and sixteenth notes at the end of measure 12. It would help a lot if when you play it through (slow, medium, and fast), that you start from the beginning of measure 12 so we can hear the transition from E to B7 in context. Thanks man.
If I’m not mistaken, the dotted quarter note bend (2nd fret E-string) at the end of measure 12 is actually played as a quarter note. This would make sense, since the rest (or hesitation) in measure 12 isn’t notated and not taken into account. If it were, that would push the sixteenth notes at the end of measure 12 to the beginning of measure 13, and you would reduce the dotted quarter note at the end of the measure to a quarter note in order to keep the count.
If you think about it that way, I think it’s easier to play.
I flipping love it!
I am tripping on this song. Feel like i want to join a blue grass band, lol…
Ryan,
You can always take a break with the bluegrass band and come on back 🙂
Cheers,
Tony
Ryan,
Glad you dig it!!!
Cheers,
Tony
Mr. Bill,
Yeah, I’m hashing through this little passage myself and ran into this yesterday and it threw me for a loop (I’m such a beginner). I do notice that Tony’s middle finger on the second fret on the 4th string never lifts off of the string in order to play the open D, so I’m pretty sure it’s an E he’s playing. Not sure that a D note would fit in the musical context. Tony, we await your scrutiny on this one!
Charlie I’m sure it’s an “E” and the tab needs to be corrected.
Charlie, If you made it this far you are doing great, and I would consider you above a beginner level. I am on part 9 and it’s been over a month. I probably should have picked an easier song, but I really liked this one.
Is the Tab is correct on the “last Steam Engine Train” Bar 10 (A7th) the 7th note should be an “E” and not a “D” as shown on the tab, another words the tab shows a “0” on the 4th string and should be a “2”?
Tony, Is it wrong to use your middle (B-string) and ring (E-string) fingers along with the thumb on this part, instead of the First finger on the (B) and middle on the (E)?
