what a great analogy @albert_d So many key lessons here- enjoy the process – you didn’t burden your self. Focus on the process not the outcome. Make it fun.
I’ve been working on the 5 Pentatonic scale positions of CAGED in a similar way. Each day of the week matches a key Monday is C Tuesday A etc. At first I just started with the root note closest to the nut then worked through the shapes up the neck. Recently I roll a dice and start with what ever string number comes up. If it’s Monday
I’m in the key of C and if the dice comes up 3 then I find the first C note on the 3rd (G) string (5th fret) and start with that shape. I’ve found this to be a great way to learn these shapes and connections and as a bi product a better understanding of the entire fretboard 🍻

Hey there you already have some great advice from the wise TAC folks above. I would amplify that you keep your thoughts positive! I read once that “if you say you can’t or you say you can, you’re probably right! I try to be grateful that I have this incredible piece of art ( my guitar) and together we can make some really nice sounds. Focus on and enjoy each playing session (notice it’s called playing 🙂) outcomes will look after themselves! 👍

Greetings @CaptainFuture – You will find that many of the lessons incorporate these elements. You may not see a lesson titled with the topic but finger independence for example may be the focus of a daily lesson. Take todays lesson, I think it includes all four of your areas of improvement. You may want to “favourite” lessons that you find provide a focus for you in a desired area so you can continue to work on that.
Hope this helps👍

MemberDecember 9, 2021 at 8:27 am in reply to: Why do so few use the classical guitar position?Good question @NW7 I’d guess that the “folk” style is the position that most of us see popular players using. Lately I’ve been watching for this and have seen a number of excellent flat pickers including Ron Block of Union Station play in the classical style. There is a very popular book by Jamie Andreas “The Principles of Correct Practice For Guitar”. in which she strongly advises that everyone should begin learning guitar using the classic style.
Which to choose? Like so many things with guitar & life….it depends 🤠

Hey @Daniel W I really enjoyed that! I love that tune & I’ve played a version in drop D but your take on it was really good. Is that from the song vault or from another source? How about the backing track? Thx👍

Hi @markeads, I think the old saying re eating an elephant applies here. If you look at a complete fretboard diagram it’s quite overwhelming. However by starting to see relationships it make a bit more sense. FBW probably provides great examples. Take it in small steps. Maybe just work on finding one note C for example all the way up the neck. Then go on to others. notice the notes on the 5th, 7th & 12 frets. Don’t frustrate yourself by taking on to much at once. Have fun learning👍
