The Friedrich Effect – Session 250 on TAC
Posted by Moonhare on January 8, 2022 at 9:05 amFinding inspiration from other TAC members who are further along their guitar journey is one of the delights of being part of this community. I mentioned before the online gig I attended by TAC member @RealKurt and how it really lit a fire under my guitar routine. I’ve been writing new original tunes ever since (I’m no singer so don’t expect songs from me).
So for my 250th playing session I have recorded this piece and I’ve tried to really get some tone and texture into the intro in a way I don’t think I’ve achieved before. After about 4 hours my fingers are on the verge of disintegrating so I’m glad I finally got it recorded! It ain’t perfect but it’s a nice step along the road. Enjoy – Darren ‘Moonhare’ 🤘😎🎸

Fantastic composition and worthy of a 250 session celebration. I’m inspired. Keep it up @Moonhare. It is a pleasure to find your view worthy posts.

Thanks. Getting a lot written right now so making the most of a good streak!

There are a few people that completely amaze me with their skills, and you are one of them @Moonhare ! This composition is completely amazing.
-
Hey thanks so much for the encouragement. That’s very kind of you to say. 🤟😎🎸

Indeed, a very nice step along the road Darren🤩 ( @Moonhare ). That was a fantastic instrumental piece👏👏👏 It definitely had texture and certainly came with tone👍👍 Well done my friend – you’re journeying quite well😎
-
Thanks Bill. I had a lot of fun writing it but my fingers didn’t thank me for it! I think my callouses have callouses now! 🤟😖🎸

Very soothing composition Darren. Worthy of lyrics. Congratulations on the 250 mark! It was wonderful to directly see and speak with you during our Progress Party breakout session this week.
I really enjoy experiencing and witnessing your progress. You have special talent but most of all it is clear you work diligently to achieve improvement with your guitar abilities. 😃

I was so pleased that you were in our breakout room at the party too. Great to chat ‘in person’. Quite a few people duck out at that point (perhaps nervous about the process) but I think this is a real highlight of those events. Pity about the sound for the interviews. Hope that gets sorted out for next time.

That was awesome playing Moonhare! Your skills are inspiring. I always enjoy watching your videos. 👏🎸🎶

That’s very kind of you to say. These are all pushing right up against my ability to play but I guess that’s how it should be.

Thanks Marisa. Although I’m still really pushing outside my comfort zone it feels like progress and more importantly it is just great fun. Everything I hoped forcwhen I joined up. Happy new year. 🤟😎🎸

Sounding great @moonhare!!! The magic is in the picking hand, bravo, and keep it going, you sound fantastic!!!

My wife was the one that pointed out why she thought I found finger style easier than picking – because I play piano and keys so I’m used to doing a lot of lead and complex stuff with my right hand. So I’m not really sure what to advise. I guess just try not to have too much tension in your wrist, which is what my svhool piano teacher used to tell me off for all the time. I like the guitar stretches skill course Tony does. I don’t always do the whole lot but it does help me as I am prone to getting a stiff neck and shoulders which all works down into my playing.

Your brain homunculus must have a huge finger representation! Very fluid, indeed. Something to work on… yes, why not? But, you are truly gifted, my friend. Play on!!

Excellent performance @Moonhare! Great original song! Very, very cool. Congratulations on a BIG win!🎵😎👏

Coming from you I take that as a big compliment. Smiley face now! 🤟😎🎸

I really loved this tune and the fingerpicking groove.
I find inspiration at TAC as well. I’m not nearly as skilled as you but I see a day, quite a ways into the future, where I am at that level. At my age the ‘small wins’ are many times very small but others are huge (for me).
I like putting in the time everyday and that in itself is a pretty big win.
Keep on writing and inspiring guys like me to keep at it.

I have found it a very interesting experience taking on TAC this year. I have struggled with barre chords and flat picking but found fingerstyle comes a bit more natural but I have realised that doing what is truly difficult is how you move on and so I’m trying to do that during the week, then the weekends are just pure fun and playing what comes more easily. All the best with you guitar routine and lets just keep learning and enjoying it. 🤟😎🎸

That was excellent! The sound was great; tone and texture indeed. Even if you’re new to guitar, you can tell you have a musical background. My take is that your musical mind, skills, and experience are flowing into your guitar playing. I really, really enjoyed that!
-
Hey thanks so much. I kind of know what I want to do although obviously my guitar dexterity isn’t quite there yet but it is great fun and things are moving faster than I expected if I’m honest. Happy new year!🤘😎🎸

love those opening slides – nice texture, great composition !

Thanks a lot @TMutter. Messing around with different techniques really helps with the creativity. Speaking of which is there anywhere to listen to your EP or download?

You can find it on Bandcamp.

Excellent Darren @moonhare! You were inspired by Kurt, well this performance was inspiring to me! Well done!
-
Moonhare, hands down this is great music. Loved all the dynamics and a great groove. Music at its best. Congratulations!
-
Thank you so much for that. I couldn’t work out why the recording came out so hissy and this morning found out that my mic was not actually working as Windows 11 update rerouted to my laptop internal mic. Oh well at least you can hear it.
