Hey,
@Kitman you got this down! Your finger
picking is great and you even threw in some vocals. Your rhythm stayed consistent too. I like
your video with the extra window. How
did you do that? -
@subsailor731, I have to agree, it’s all up to you to how fast you do the 30-days challenge. If you are new to the guitar it takes awhile for your fingers to know what they are supposed to do. Also takes some time for your fingertips to callus over. Just have some fun with it.

@Mrfredsporty , It’s always best to pay attention to what your doing. There is a reason why some things sound good and others bad. Sometimes, you can hit the notes all right, but the timing is off. Once you start sorting it all out you are on your way to making up your own tunes.

I agree, the challenges are to get you up and moving with the guitar. But, I wouldn’t skip the finger-picking. There isn’t a law that you have to do the exercise for 10 minutes, just do it for a couple of minutes. If you can’t keep up with Tony at the slowest speed, that’s ok too. It will give your ears a chance to hear what is going on, one note at a time. Good luck.

@Mrfredsporty , good job on your recent find on youtube. You’ll do fine when the fretboard wizard starts back up. You already see how the chords fit together. FBW will further explain.

Great idea @Bill_Brown to do a play along. Also figuring out the chords @stevieblues used. The song came out great. Nice and smooth. Thanks for sharing.

@elisabethajgmail-com , sorry to hear you are having issues with your guitar. I had the same problem and finally bought a smaller guitar. But, have you tried to hold it like a classical guitar, i just saw the same advice from @MikeGaurnier . One other thing…. You have a jumbo guitar what type strings does it have? You might try thinner strings? I wish I would have tried that before giving up my Martin D-28. One last thing…. Capo the neck up, that way you don’t have to reach so far to make your chords or pick your notes. Your guitar might just need a friend thou, something like a parlor size guitar. Good luck

@the-old-coach Great that you use the forum to it’s fullest. I find someone is always posting something that I want to further investigate and see if it’s right for me. Or they have the same issues that I have with playing and someone will have an answer that will help me out. Good for you on your 500th day of playing happiness. :),

@the-old-coach , I wondered what the sdrohC was. ha ha ha. You are correct about a different order of chords makes a difference. I have a song I play that I have to hop back on a chord that is using my pinkie and my pinkie just ain’t that fast. So practice makes perfect. Thanks for sharing.

@GerryB56 , I think listening to yourself is key. You are so right, you are so focused on hitting the right strings, you don’t hear mistakes or starring moments. When I record myself, I hear my mistakes (of course). I hear my hesitations and wrong chords. Then I can work on those issue. But, I also hear when something comes out good. So I can give myself a pat on the back at those times too. Good luck, you got this!

@Kitman , this software looks awesome. I’m going to look it up and download. Thanks for the offer of help. I’ll give it a go and let you know if I can do it or not. Time will tell. Again, your video came out great

After buying a couple guitars that fit me, I thought…. Let someone else take home the Martin D-28 . I’m sure someone is really happy with it, they play it and love like it should be. It was just being a dust collector for me. I don’t really think having lighter strings would have helped. But, I should have given it a try.

You don’t have to be a rock star. You just have to have a little fun with it. Sit on the couch and play a couple jingles. It takes time and a lot of frustration. But, it sounds like you are getting it down.
