@Namarrar , I forgot to mention. On the side bar is an icon called Acoustic Tuesday. This is a free thing Tony does on Tuesday. He will go over the Tuesday’s daily challenge of the week. This weeks was “Bingo Bango’. Gives good ideas and tips. If it makes you feel better, when I play it, it’s not nearly as fast as he does it. In fact, I didn’t even bother to play along because I couldn’t come close. But, it just takes time and you’ll be surprised how fast you catch on. Also @MikeGaurnier, I saw that barre B and thought…. Oh NO! But, like @the-old-coach said, take a deep breath, and then another.

Ha ha ha….. @GuitarGeni , your story is so funny. As a kid I grew up on a farm and we had bats come down from the attic one evening. I don’t remember how my dad got rid of them, but now the little buggers are protected. Look at the bright side, you won’t have mosquitoes in the house. I think I’d freak if the little furry critter showed it’s fangs at me. I guess you better keep you guitar in it’s case so the little buggers down take up housing in through the sound hole.

@jumpinjeff , I never heard of Snakewood burl, But I do know what Burl wood is and from what I heard, it’s extremely strong. I bet the cross section cut of the pick is very pretty too. Can you see all the swirls in the wood? I thought you made a mistake with the thickness, but yep, they are thick and then chamfered down. I just found them on the internet and they are pretty.

@Namarran ,We are all at the same level. Some weeks are harder than other weeks that’s all. The daily challenge is the same for all of us. One course you don’t mention taking the ‘5 Day Guitar Routine’. It shows how to use the Daily Challenges to their fullest. I’m retaking it myself right now. I think it should be a prerequisite for the daily challenge. It pretty much shows you how to take a weeks worth of the daily challenges and write your own song. Anyway…… The daily challenge is the main feature of the site. Helps you get your fingers moving the way they should. Stretch those fingers out. Reach for frets that you never thought you could reach before. Do it every day. If you can’t do the exercise in 10 minutes straight, break it up into sections. 2 minutes here, 2 minutes there. If you can’t play along with Tony’s recording, so what? I don’t all the time, but still learned something from the lesson. You’ll find you have it down quicker than you thought. Then when you are playing your camp fire songs you can start adding in your own break in-between verses. Make up a cool ending to a song. Give it a little time, I’m sure you’ll do fine.,

You are doing great just by going that extra mile and doing more than just the daily challenges. Remember you don’t have to follow each step exact. Sometimes my fingers can’t do something fast enough so I have to improvise. So…. if it sounds good? it is good.

Welcome back @David E . I have dropped off TAC for awhile too. But, if all you do is do the daily challenge. That’s good. It’s better than doing nothing. Since you have the guitar in your hand practice some strums. Or some finger picking. Again… welcome back 😉

@stevieblues , are you talking about Bingo Bango. ha ha ha. I didn’t even try to keep up with Tony on it. But it is a great stretching exercise. you practiced for a 1/2 hour, good for you! Keep it up.

@Guy_H , I actually think learning a song is great. Memorize a few then improve on them. Some songs are just strummed but after learning the strum pattern you could record it. Use it as backing track and do a solo using the same strummed song. Doing that will help you learn to hear the notes. That will give you some practice with ear training. Get a piece of paper and write the notes down as you go. You’d have an Intro, Verse, Chorus, Bridge and ending to the song. All finger picked, that will be awesome. That’s pretty much what the daily challenges are doing. They are there to help you put it all together on the weekend. My answer to your question is no, you are not wasting your time by learning songs. Also learning a song a week is a lot. You want to listen to it and really hear what’s going on in a song it takes me a lot longer than a week to really get a song down where I think it sounds good enough. Good luck and I hope my answer helped a little. Just remember, that’s me. That’s what I do. It might not be for you.

@Kitman, glad you asked. It’s being delivered today and is 3 stops away 🙂

Name of the book is “No Bull. Music Theory for Guitarists” by James Shipway.

Welcome @HowardM , I printed up the lessons for this week and was reviewing them. I wanted to piece them together as a song. I’m really not getting anywhere. But, I did figure out a few things that I was missing as in Musical Theory. So it hasn’t been a total lost. I ordered a book that @the-old-coach recommended for guitar. Hope to see more posts from you.

Thanks @Dage , It was a song that I really wanted to learn. Now I’m working on another one that might take me a tad longer to get to speed on. 🙂
Yep, the rings are sparklers, thanks

@GerryB56 , You will learn alot from FBW and it’s got some harder parts. Always feel free to ask the forum questions if you get stuck. I had to and they pulled me up when I was ready to quit. Just keep it in mind.

@Bill_Brown , you are correct. The only post I saw was when HowardM posted his routine when he first started up. and not a post after that. I signed up for FBW when I joined. I wonder if its offered now? I’ll have to ask one of the newbies. I really liked the course. I swear, I was having one hell of a time trying to figure out how Tony came up with his chords using the natural occurring major scale formula. I figured out my mistake while answering your post….. I have to really thank you for the post. Silly isn’t it, sometimes you just have to slow down and the answer hits you square in the face 🙂

Thanks @Glade , I was mostly thinking of the new members that are listening to Tony talking about the musical alphabet and scales, blah, blah and then scratch their heads and ask themselves, What? Thanks for the recommendation and i’ll look them up. I know a little about Music Theory. And it’s a big help when I’m trying to put music together.
