Great performance @Loraine ! You and the Orangewood 12 seem to be getting on quite well! I also heard your voice inflections coming through on this performance as well.

I really like Gordon Lightfoot and had forgotten about him until I listened to your performance. Thanks!

Hi @Dirk_R , do you have a humidity monitor to check to see what the humidity is in the area or case where you keep your guitars. You can pick one up that runs on batteries and is inexpensive.

Once you see if the humidity is ok (b/w 40 and 50 as stated above) I would also support the comment on getting your guitar set up.

    Good luck!

Great win @bugmeist . Getting accustomed to standing and playing is definitely a journey in of itself. I am pretty comfortable doing it with an electric. The acoustic is a different kettle of fish. I need work there!

    Congrats on your win!

Congrats @albert_d in finishing FW2 and experiencing the growth and impact. That’s awesome and must be very gratifying

I have been working my way through FW 2 and really digging into the challenge and how to integrate it into our daily challenges. There have been quite a few insights for me in doing so.

    Congrats! 👏👍😎🎶🎸

Hi @Badgerbanshee , I have a bit of a testimony that supports having a set up some. I have a Taylor 410CE I had purchased in 1997 and had to played it the way it came out of the case for all those years. A few weeks back I had a need to take it into a luthier for some minor fret work and asked that they also do a full set up and lower the action on the strings. When I picked it up a few weeks ago and started playing it I was dumbfounded. The set up made fingering and fretting everything so much easier (yep – even the dreaded barre chords) as well as sound so much better. It’s like I have a new guitar!

Find a luthier with a good reputation that you can trust and get the setup done. You will not be sorry!

Thanks @albert_d , I appreciate the feedback. This was the very first Jeffery Foucault song I heard a couple weeks ago and really loved the his songwriting and lyrics.

@Dirk_R here is a link that describes a guitar set up:

    https://www.ensembleschools.com/the-music-room/guitar-notes/how-to/#:~:text=A%20%E2%80%9Csetup%E2%80%9D%20is%20regular%20maintenance,or%20lowering%20the%20string%20height.

I recently had a setup done on a guitar I’ve owned since 1997. Since I purchased the guitar I played it just as it came out of the case and was happy with it. Recently a problem developed on the second fret called “overhang”. The fret end was sticking out beyond the neck causing cuts and scraps to my fretting hand. I did research on luthiers near me, chose one and asked them to fix that problem as well as do a complete set up with new strings. I also asked them to lower the action (distance between the string and the fret board) if possible. The difference it made in the playability and sound is remarkable. The cost was around $140. My advice is to find a luthier with a solid reputation and that you feel good about working on your guitar.

Thanks very much @Philb . I had not heard it before a couple weeks ago. I checked out Jeffery Foucault as a result of a mention in one of the recent Acoustic Tuesday shows. He is a very talented guy.
