That’s not a metal wall, I used the sticky tape that sticks it to the car’s dashboard and stuck it to my wall.
The magnetic part uses a metal plate that comes with it that you put inside your phone case so you can set it against the magnet on the piece and it “sticks”

Yeah, before that, I’ve played some basic open chords, but never songs and stopped/started some online lessons but always got bored and never really got past the first open chord lessons onto any fun stuff.
Right now starting in July also, I’m trying out some songs using Justin Guitar’s Beginner songbook and Jack Tuttle’s Bluegrass Primer (just finish my first one of those about a week ago), hey, I should post that too 🙂

Thanks. Not much extra work over simply playing each challenge. I generally listen to the challenge in the morning and play it for about 10 minutes in the morning. Then include it in my evening practice each day until I’m ready. I actually just start the recording and play it over and over until I get a good one (which could take a while :P) then trim the video.
One thing that helps my attitude when recording is to look at the camera and smile (or force a smile) at the beginning of each attempt. Helps me remember to seriously try
