Boil 'Em Cabbage Down – arr. by Jack Tuttle
Posted by davefive on September 4, 2021 at 7:40 amThis is my first bluegrass picking recording ever and the easiest song in Jack Tuttle’s Bluegrass Primer: https://www.jacktuttle.com/product/guitarprimer/.
Took me about a month of practice, feels great to actually do it at the stated speed (not something I’ll likely be able to do with the other songs in the book)

Thanks a lot. This is my first ever song post anywhere so it’s nice to get positive feedback.

Thanks! It helps to have a click track in my ear 🙂 (sometimes it’s just the metronome, sometimes it’s a drum track using the Loopz app on my phone.

Thanks. I still get messed up when it switches between eighths and quarters sometimes. But I find that if I slow it way down and just practice that part, I can fix it.

@davefive , Well ya beat the devil outta that one. Just remember don’t cover up all your darks ’cause they’re your friend. Nice pickin…love the shirt!

Thanks! Though I have no clue what “don’t cover up all your darks” means, if it’s a playing tip, I’d love to hear about it
Unsurprisingly, this shirts gets the most comments out of any I have 🌲🌲🌲🌲-
@davefive , Bob Ross used to say that all the time. So much Bob Ross wisdom seems to apply to my music journey and as soon as I figure out how that saying applies I will be sure to let you in on the revelation.
Ps. In case it wasn’t obvious I am a huge B.R. fan. I mean seriously who has hair like that and gets away with it….okay Don Henley but that’s it. And if @Fletch finds a picture on the internet of someone that looks like me with that same hair I can assure you it is not me….I swear.

Nice. Now that you mention it, it does sound like Bob Ross. No better salve to sooth frayed nerves or a restless mind than idling away the time watching him make something amazing out of nothing.

Thanks. I’m curious about the mandolin, but I figure focus is better than frenzy, and I’ll work on getting somewhere with the guitar first 🙂

Thanks. I could barely string two bars together when I first started. I’m finding that learning songs is very satisfying
