Welcome to TAC! I think you’ll soon discover it opens up a whole new world for your guitar journey! Been awhile since I did the 30 day course, so I can’t remember how I approached it, but even if you’re a complete beginner I would suggest looking at some of Tony’s skill courses as a supplement. Several of them are great for introducing or reinforcing some fundamental practices like strumming, stretching or fretboard knowledge. Enjoy your journey!

You got that right! Even if I haven’t yet succumbed to the “feeling old” mindset, I do strongly believe that TAC and my guitar journey will always be a big boost for keeping my spirit young. Congrats on that 1300 – pretty impressive number, for sure!

I hear where you’re coming from! Some of those lessons are sure going to require many repeat visitations for me. Especially the finding keys and chords by ear – gulp! But I sure am enjoying Tony’s course, he explains things much more clearly than many other teachers I have tried to learn this stuff from.

That was terrific! As others have said, I see a performer who is relaxed and really enjoying himself. Thanks for the inspiration, as I have trouble trying not to take myself too seriously. Like Tony keeps stressing, the primary goal is having fun – I think that ethic is slowly seeping its way into my head😄 Bravo, keep them coming, Albert_d!

Have to agree with the others above, that all comes together beautifully! Adding the lead/solo was indeed a very nice touch. When I started learning guitar, I had no aspirations for writing songs, couldn’t even imagine doing so. But you and others in TAC are providing big inspiration. If and when you have time and/or inclination, maybe you could post your thoughts on the songwriting process for those of us who ponder giving it a try eventually?

Good on ya’, as they say Down Under! I agree 100% that TAC is a total game – changer. Just by prompting us to show up every day we can’t help but make progress! Plus it has given me a renewed curiosity to learn more about every aspect of guitar playing.

You have likely discovered it by now, OldCoach, but if not, refer to p. 8 of the new FBW reference guide, that gives you the minor scale formula – W H W W H W W. The process from there is the same as for a major scale, with the chords following the minor scale pattern as Cadgirl describes. Forgive me if I’m pointing out something obvious to you already. By the way, I am absolutely loving Tony’s FBW, so glad I overcame my hesitation to buy it. I never had the original version, so can’t compare them, but I gather he has made some major improvements in FBW 2.0

Just when I start feeling a little guilty about wanting more guitars, it’s great to drool over some fellow TACers’ guitarsenals😆 Now that I have that resonator, I wonder why every guitarist doesn’t want one! And it would look so pretty in among those other gorgeous acoustics😁

I’m in the same situation, wanting to learn some good flatpicking tunes for beginners. I assume you’ve already done Tony’s Flatpicking Jumpstart course? I’ve been working on Billy in the Lowground, finding it a good exercise. Searching YouTube I find lots of lessons, but most require subscribing to Truefire or similar programs. Some do offer free trial periods. Wish I could offer more specific help, maybe one of our more veteran TACers will chime in.

Thanks for that perspective. Now, this might well be an unanswerable question, but here goes anyway: do you think having guitar experience is very helpful for someone trying to learn piano? I mean, obviously the musical theory knowledge has to be tremendously useful, and I’m hopeful that my much improved finger dexterity will help on keys. The layout of the notes on piano just seems so much easier to understand than the strings of a guitar. But of course the motions are entirely different. Just curious! And looking forward to hearing your finished version of the new song when you are there!

I’m pretty taken with the look of these guitars, makes me wonder why they’re not more popular. Maybe people think they’re only for blues or bluegrass music, but they sound so cool with any type of playing, it seems to me.

I do really love the unique sound of a resonator guitar, it’s inspired me to tackle playing some blues, which I’ve never really explored before. And maybe learning some slide technique will push me to get more use out of my Les Paul.

You no doubt have a much wider selection in the US – even at Cosmo Music in Toronto, which is a guitar superstore, they only had one wood resonator on the floor and it was a square neck. I got the bug to buy and try a resonator by watching Justin Johnson on YouTube. Have signed up for some online blues and slide lessons to supplement my TAC daily practice.
