Hi @MTJack , as been said by Loraine, Michelle and Marty stretching is key. It was so key in my experience that without it I would have given up long ago. Next time you are playing be aware of when fatigue begins. Take a moment even if only after a minute or two and stretch. The type of stretching I have found most effective is when you stretch for release of tension as opposed to stretching to feel the stretch. Tension releasing stretching is done more slowly and starts the second you feel tension on what ever it is you are targeting. Observe the feel of tension on the muscle, back off just a hair to the point right before you feel tension and wait for the release then apply a hair more tension and wait again and so on. As you are waiting be observant of when you feel the muscles and ligaments relaxing. That is the point at which you begin to add the smallest bit of tension. How you stretch is as important as the stretching movements themselves. Most of what we are targeting are small muscles that are delicate articulate movers. Care must be taken to achieve maximum benefits. It was helpful for me when I started using the technique to imagine silly putty. Slow stretch and you can stretch for miles; fast stretch and you will Snap.

Hi @steve48 , both MikeGuarnier and Loraine were spot on. I will add this: we put in the effort and the outcome is cumulative over time. There is no behind, only right now. When we focus on the moment the future takes care of itself.

@801dda , do you know the cause of the tremors? Are they at all times while playing or just sometimes? Do they increase when complexity is introduced or when forced straining as a result of new positions encountered are attempted?

I saw a question in there….I believe the answer is yes. Proviso 1: It would need to be your sole goal. Proviso 2: You had trained your fingers and mind to the extent they are ready and capable of playing the instrumental pieces you are trying to learn.

No, not if that is your goal. Are two goals better than one?…only Guy H has the answer to that question.
Lots of great points made throughout the discussion. Mark, @mkjohnsons talked about two things that impressed me. The magic line and practicing guitar. Is there a magic line? I am finding the answer to be yes but to his point there is more beyond it. My magic line is being able to express myself intuitively and completely cogently when I play my guitar. I am a practitioner of guitar, mentally I need to focus on play as my practice rather than practice to play: early childhood trauma with piano, etc. When I go into practice mode it is because I am powerfully motivated by some new discovery (just beyond my intuitive reach) which feeds my determination allowing me to play the same drill over and over and over for hour, days, months and yes now I can say years. @paul0r Congratulations. I am not too far behind you (just missed pioneer designation) and I so strongly share your sentiments. This is a journey. The more I give to the journey the more it gives back and then the more effort I want to put into it. It is like an ever expanding Mobius strip.

@mkjohnsons , and @MikeGaurnier , the road was really bumpy when I first started. I beat myself up incessantly. After many a lost round I got tired and tried to find another way. These synthesized sayings are not original ideas but ideas that filtered through my sieve and came out as practical thoughts to deliver me from myself who, as it turns out, was my biggest roadblock in becoming the player I always wanted to be. I wish I could have just listened to Tony P and gotten from the getgo. Seems as though I liked to do things the hard way.😄
Back to Guy H…final analysis…yes, no, maybe. I know…not helpful.

@801dda , sorry to hear. I have always been a member of the good hands club but my shakiness is mild and does not interfere with my playing. But I really have to make sure my tension is managed. If I get any adrenaline forget it….I can barely play.
Is there anything you do with your hands (talking about outside of playing too) where you don’t have the tremors or are they always present regardless of task? I ask because in some instances focusing on the larger muscles of the back and chest to stabilize the arms can be helpful. Sometimes we can take the smaller muscles out of play. Those are the ones that give me fits at times.
